Hard to shift, sometimes won't

Post by bassplayaz06 »

hey, i'm havin some issues with my manual gearbox. when im coming to a stop and go to put it into first when stopped, i can't. i let out the clutch, and push it back in and try again, then go into 2nd and finally into 1st. lately i've had to go 3rd, then 2nd, then first. the other problem is reverse. when im completely stopped and put it in reverse, it won't go at first. so i let out the clutch and back in, then it will go into reverse, but grindes the gear a tiny bit and jerks the car. any clue what's going on?!?

Don't use GL-5 type gear oil... I found that out the hard way. Spend the extra $$$ and get some redline GL-4. As for the grinding when going into reverse, make sure that the clutch is all the way to the floor and give the transmission a second for the internals to stop spinning.

ok. i've used GL-5 for almost a year. idk what was in it before the clutch change. im also thinking the shifter bushings are bad. im gonna replace them soon with brass bushings.
