Worst tinting experience ever -- Rant! --

Post by lowincash »

So I've decided to have my windshield tint redone with something lighter and have searched all over but could not find a place nearby that has the film I want. I wanted to use the Llumar Air Blue 80 which is an 80% ceramic film that blocks about 43% of the heat coming in. Finally found one that's about 50 miles away and so I scheduled an appointment to have my windshield tinted. The next available Saturday appointment is on June 18th That's too long away and I've already had the tint removed already so I'm not used to all that heat coming in while driving.Anyways, I called around and found a place that they say carries the 80% film. This place was about 40 miles away and since they have the best price $150 I said what the heck, it's closer and cheaper. The other shop quoted me $200 for the tint. I went there yesterday to have the windshield tinted and I noticed the film had no bluish color to it. I asked them if it's the Air Blue 80% from Llumar and they assure me that it is. I told them there's no blue in it at all but they assure me that it is the Air Blue. Ok so I had them tinted it and after they were done all looks good then drove back home. After I got home I did a closer inspection and noticed A LOT of tiny lint and dust particles under the tint to where you can feel the bump and leaves a bubble. I called them and asked them to redo it but they kept telling me it'll go away after it dries. I told them it's not water marks but rather dust and lint under the tint causing the bubble. They told me they won't redo it because that's how it is. At that point I got pretty upset so I drove back to that tint place to show them what I'm talking about. After showing him, he continues to tell me that there's nothing they can do to avoid the dirt because my car is dirty and there's always dust flying around and all these BS. After arguing for a long time I was getting nowhere so I told him to just take the tint off and I'll take the loss and I'll just go to a professional place to get it tinted. He told me he charges for removal but he will do it for free this time o_O In the end he was nice enough refunding me $50 but I'm still out $100 Good news is today I went to another shop and had the right tint put on and they were nice enough to give me a nice discount after I told them my story. But yah sorry for the rant, but that was by far the worst experience I've had so far and I've dealt with a lot of tint shops =/

WTH?! I'm sorry. That sounds like the painting company that won the contract to paint our buildings. I caught dude painting my door, then walking away leaving a long DRIP running down the middle of the door. I said "You're just gonna leave it like that?!" He says: "It's drying." I said "I KNOW IT'S DRYING...IT'S GONNA DRY LIKE THAT!!!" He then goes and mumbles something to the next guy. I can only imagine: "typical chick...what does she know." So, the next day, they're out there again. I SHOW it to him, that, of course, it DRIED LIKE THAT, and he makes like he's trying to 'fix' it, paints over it, and yes, the streak was and is still there. I gave up. No use arguing with Cro-Magnons. Last month there was an event at my school campus, and who do I see but the same company setting up their scaffoldings. A few weeks ago I had an appointment with one of the academic counselors and I notice the unbelievable job they did on the buildings they already did. Blue brush lines (the door color) on top of the brown (wall color) And yes, they left it like that. (Wait...let me guess...it's drying???) I know the rep for the paint company, and he's gonna hear about it!I can't believe people expect to get paid for such work. I repainted the walls inside my house time and again and never got streaks running down, never got drips on the carpet either.

Yeahhhh.. tinting places have no idea what customer service is. I had a guy put the wrong stuff on my front door glass and he admitted doing it wrong, now giving me hard time about redoing it.
