At first I got a bit excited, but I think my 2009 MSRP was something like $19,500 and 65% plus $500 is just a bit under what Kelly Blue Book says is the value for a private party seller.Did they tell you what the MSRP was for your car?

Nothing specific on the mailer. I have my "sticker". It was a 1.8L AT AC PPkg and with destination had msrp of $19,480. In Jan. 2009 with $1.5m in rebates, $817 dealer discount, a $2m GM dealer incentive, and $3m GM Card earnings I wrote a check for $13,313.76 including tax/title.So mine would be worth 65% x $19,480 = $12,662 + the $500 special bonus but especially with only 12,000 miles I know I could get more in a private sale and I am not in the mood to buy something different, especially a Chevy, anyway.

They might be calculating MSRP minus the destination cost. Hopefully not, but they play games. Destination charge in my area for 2009's were $635. 2010's were $720. When they (automotive lease guide and cars.com) still did residual numbers for Pontiac Vibe's, the 2010 was down to 29% after five years. That was last years numbers and the death of Pontiac along with the Toyota recalls took a toll. They should of been between 32-36%. Even the Matrix took a hit, from being around 36-38% after 5 years to around 32-34%. I assume they have rebounded back to close to normal or even better now. Still not as good as the Civic, Fit, or even the Hyundai Elantra. Now the link from cars.com does not even have the Toyota Matrix listed. Since about January of this year Vibe's and Prius' and other small efficient cars have actually appreciated in value. My 2010 is up $1500-2600 between KBB, NADA, and Edmunds. I would be curious to know what the auction guides say, such as Manheim and Blackbook. High gas prices, Fukushima, small car demand, and inflation (which miraculously does not show up in our Gov's official numbers) is giving us a little window with better values right now. With newer, more efficient and powerful cars already coming out, I would not bet on the Vibe holding value for long term, with the caveat that a lot of the new models also cost more and inflation might help hold the values longer.Oh, tire prices will be going up again because of higher costs/inflation, so if ya need em get them now. Michelin just increased their truck/SUV tires and will be increasing prices on passenger tires, if they have not already. Jake, I agree with you. Chevy and or GM does not produce anything that I would rather have in a price range I am willing to pay.Interesting that by their calculations, puts my car at $13,225 + $500 bonus = $13725. The NADA average trade value is $13225. Clean trade would be $14225. Clean retail is $17175. This figure is based on MSRP minus destination ($19820-720=19100). With destination included, would put my value at $13875+500=$14374. I am liking msrp with destination included much more! Hopefully that is the way they are doing it.KBB excellent trade is $14650, private party is $16370, Retail is $18070, Certified is $18470. I have to think excellent because I only have 8000 miles on it, and the only problem is a little wear from my heal on the floor mat. Edmunds is Trade in $13206, private party $15086, Retail $16737, Certified $17223.http://www.cars.com/go/advice/...idualh ... /index.jsp

Regardless, all-in-all its probably not a bad deal if you were intending to trade the car in anyhow. Dealers often hose people on the trade in value one way or another. There are so many ways to roll the money around and whereas we buy a new car only once and a while the dealerships are negotiating every day. No matter how good you think you are - its not a fair fight!

In Jan. 2009 when I bought my new 2009 Vibe I didn't even bother asking what the dealer would give me in trade. It was a 2003 base 1.8L with AT, AC, monotone and Power package - only 33,000 miles. Tires had been replaced at 20,000 due to "defects". My guess was $7,000 tops. I had no problem selling it privately for $9,500. In fact the buyer was willing to pay the full $9,750 I asked but I felt guilty as anyone who offered at least $9,250 would have had instant agreement. I even had a back up buyer.

I have had more than one dealer tell me I was not a fair fight - but they might have been lying. Best time to buy a new car is when you don't really need a new car.

I checked my sticker and the MSRP was $20,980. Sweet!Of course I checked the Chevy website and the only incentive that I can get on a vehicle I like is the Equinox - and that is just 2.9% financing. While that vehicle is bigger, hauls more and actually gets better mpg, it doesn't come with a stick shift. Now, the Camaro V6 could be tempting...

I thought there was a cash rebate of $1,000 on the Equinox - but that would be in lieu of the 2.9% financing. Then I assume the $500 Pontiac owner rebate would be there for you, and a dealer discount that around her is about $1,000. I also have about $600 on my GM Card. But I am content with my '09 Vibe for now and maybe for several more years.

MSRP of mine was $18'335 before taxes/delivery/fees/levies, ect I believe... When all was said and done I paid $16'7XX after everything out the door! Not going to trade it in and get another payment, though... I'm trying to cut down on those!
