After riding in her 76 year old grandmother's 2009 Vibe, she decided that she wanted a Vibe or a Matrix. Well, last week, my daughter pulled the trigger on a silver 2006 Vibe with 34K miles. It has an automatic tranny, moonroof, monsoon stereo and only a few minor exterior blemishes. She is only 15 1/2, so daddy is breaking the car in for her After driving this little gem, I am wondering what GM was thinking discontinuing Pontiac, and not at least carrying the Vibe in another model line with a GM badge? I'll try to post a photo.
Welcome and congrats on the Platinum gem Yes, there's quite a number of us enthusiasts boycotting GM cars until they bring it back. To kill off the second best-selling division -one with a niche market- makes no sense.
My father-in-law worked for GM in Anderson, IN for 35 years and he LOVED the Pontiac line from the GTO of the early 70's to the Vibe of the 00's. I think I would have dumped Buick, before Pontiac!
Welcome to you and your daughter! Don't be afraid to let your daughter join as well someday if she wants. This is a very family friendly site. Enjoy the Vibe !Quote, originally posted by piscatorial_phd »her 76 year old grandmother's 2009 VibeThat is a grandma with some darn good taste if I do say so myself !Quote, originally posted by piscatorial_phd »Well, last week, my daughter pulled the trigger on a silver 2006 Vibe with 34K miles. The best color there is !

Welcome from a fellow Ohioan Nice to see another family who was able to convince the "up & coming drivers" on the type of vehicle to start off with. Your daughter will truly love this versatile little car and you too will appreciated the fact that it will spend more time in your driveway rather than the auto repair shop My son is currently learning to drive on his new Vibe which we got just a few weeks ago. He's been too busy to post pics just yet so I may have to do it for him. End of school year exams/studies & the like are MORE of a priority than this forum, for now anyways. Again ....................................... Welcome
Congrats! You picked a "sporty" but very safe car for your child to drive.

not much can be done to ease the worry of a parent when the child takes the first solo drive. We've seen stories and pictures of Vibe wrecks, some members here have been in some nasty ones themselves, and it's surprising how well these cars take care of the people in them. So when that first solo comes, find some comfort in knowing that she's in a safe car.
Welcome!! I know exactly what you're talking about. Since we have a truck and a van, I thought I would buy a smaller car to teach my daughter how to drive. So I bought our 2005 Vibe in August 2010. I have been driving it to work, etc. since then. Well, she turns 16 in June and I don't want to hand over the keys. She needs to get her own Vibe!! It is a great car.
