REAR Motor MOUNT 05 AWD

Post by jasonvibe »

I have had some odd vibration issues. Someone said check the motor mounts. The rear rubber has "air space"on the upper half. It's not rotted or ragged. Just smooth area of metal and this open space I can shine a flashlight thru. All the rubber is good and smooth, like it's suppose to be...I guess like this? I find this a very odd design. It's too tight to get a picture . Is this NORMAL on my AWD? Please take a look when you can. I need a definite answer please.

Here's what they suggest to find the bad motor mount. Use a pry bar with the engine running and lift on each motor mount until the vibration stops. Then you found the bad motor mount. If you can't get a pry bar on it use a floor jack under each one (put a block of wood between the jack and engine mount area). Both these methods should require help and be very careful with the running engine! Goodluck!

There are pictures of motor mounts on http://www.rockauto.com.They seem to have spaces between the rubber and the frame of the mount.

Nice to know someone says there is an air space. Did you see this in person on yours or on the parts site??? I went to that site and others. Honestly it was difficult to be sure what mount is which? And if there is an air space like mine. But , At least with your reply... it's likely good & to know the mount at least looks normal... The mount check...I will have to "draft" someone. Oh joy. Just to clarify..I am speaking of themount under the firewall. Just inches to the driver side of the driveshaft to the rear. Seems I cannot spot the exact same one on line...? It uses 2 bolt up and 2 bolts down to secure to the cross member....when viewed from the driveshaft. Lastly if it is a mount issue. Maybe there is still a poor idle issue and a bad mount is amplifying that poor idle...?thanks
