Ever ridden in the back of your Vibe?

Post by 09vGT »

.. Well, I did today for about an hour.. and it sucked. Very uncomfortable. It was cramped, the seat belt was slicing my neck because it was in an awkward position, and the seats were so firm they hurt my (removed). I feel sorry for my friends that I wag around back there!.. I'm glad at least the front seats are comfortable!

Rode in the back of mine several times and I didn't think it was all that bad When the wife wanted to drive, and the son wanted the pass front seat, then I gladly sat in the rear. Granted It's not as comfy as any of the heavier luxury cars BUT for a small 3000lb econo car, it's acceptable. Definitely noisier (especially the GT models) due to the 18's and the lack of sound deadening insulation but acceptable. I do like the leg room (I'm only 5'-8") and the fact that you sit "more upright" than in some other cars.

I didn't mind it too terribly. Although they (C&D) were right in saying those rear windows are pretty high. But the rear seat has plenty of legroom (more than the Corolla... I LOVE that part!), headroom, is nice and roomy (enough so I could slouch down a bit) and could be a nice place. My step-mom and sister were in the back on a 4 hour drive up from Iowa, and my oldest sister took a nap in it on the way down!

I've only sat in ours for a few minutes at a time. But it couldn't be more uncomfortable than my sister-in-laws Forester... 2003, I believe it was. Flat, hard and LOW!!Every time we would fly into Newark they would pick us up in this car. After an hour and a half in the back seat of that thing my tall, skinny body felt like I had been riding a horse all day!! And the MIL's Cavalier wasn't much better either. I think I'd rather ride in the back of my Mazda than either one... and it has less leg room than either!!

I have a few times, though never for more than 10-15 mins. I'm 6'3 200lbs and found it quite comfortable. I wouldn't say it was much different than my ex's Corolla, and there's more room than a lot of my friends' cars (Honda Civics, any year BMW 3-series, '05 STI, '06 Volvo S60R, '11 Malibu come to mind). Heck, on a road trip back from Halifax, I drove 1435kms in 14hrs one day, and my rear passenger had no complaints!

I've ridden in the back seat and passenger seat of my mom's Vibe once or twice. It wasn't too bad. I think as a driver you just become used to how it feels to be in the driver's seat and when you sit anywhere else in the vehicle, it just seems strange and slightly uncomfortable. My mom and dad have ridden in the back seat of mine many times and they never have any complaints about being uncomfortable. My mom actually prefers to sit in the back seat and be "chauffeured" around by yours truly .

the back of the 03-08's isn't bad, my only complaints about the rear seats are the ratcheting seat belts of doom

Just riding in the passenger seat with my wife driving is strange enough for me. Probably because it's happened only once!

I have done it many times. It reminds me of how much I want component speakers for the rear. Wow the sound is very FLAT back there with the factory speakers.

Sat in the back with Angel and Hubz before we bought it just to be sure that we all would fit comfortably. I rarely give up the wheel, only on longer trips when I have already driven 3/4 of the time and can't keep my eyes open.

aside from sitting in the back to work on some maintenance items and load gear i have never actually had someone else driving it with me in the back. Come to think of it between both vibes i have owned and the 175k miles between them i never rode in the back seat once. odd, I'll have to try that someday.

I could have sworn the title said something else, that included the word, get.But now that I re-read it, I haven't ridden in the back of my vibe but I have rode in the back of friend's vibes. It's got to be the worst backseat made.. IMO

I did the other day. I'm just under 5' tall, so I couldn't really see what was going on in front of the car unless something was up in the sky. It was roomy enough for a pipsqueak like me and I could probably sleep in the back a bit more comfortably than I did in my mom's Mariner.
