I want an exhaust but cant afford a full catback system. Im going to buy a magnaflow muffler online, take it to a shop and have them install it. Does anyone know a round about number for cost on something like this? Will they change the tube size from the stock cat or do i need to ask? Or is that even necessary?
What made you choose magnaflow? What do you think of Flowmaster? Been pondering this myself for a while...I have no idea on $$$ but the shop will easily be able to adjust pipe sizes so they fit together!
Magnaflow send to have a good reputation and a lot of good comments about the sound. Haven't looked at flowmaster really. Always assumed they were for American muscle.
I got 2 quotes today. One from meineke for 225. The other from a ma and pa shop for 125. Both quotes were with me supplying the muffler and 2.25 inch pipe from the cat back.
man that is really expensive, you know you can buy a wire mig welder from Harbor freight for 100 bux? and do the install yourself? I bought one of those mig welder for my parents place because I didnt wanna bring over my 500bux machine. and at 100$ it does pretty much everything mine does. Plus if you own a welder you can do more fun projects yourself.
I spent I think sub-$200 to get a Magnaflow and a stainless tip. I was disappointed. It made such a difference doing that on my Civic, but on the Vibe (now mine is the 2.4L) it was barely noticeable until I get up above 3500 rpms or so.I went with a stock looking set up and a 3" tip. I wish I had taken one shop's recommendation and put a straight thru muffler on rather than the stock way that kinks to the drivers side, turns 180 degrees and runs thru the muffler and then another 90 degree kink out the back. And I wish I'd gotten the 3.5" or 54" rolled tip Magnaflow tip instead of a knock off brand.

If you like to hear the engine sing I'd recommend investing in a short ram intake. Everyone seems to agree it makes the sound much more snarly and loud enough to hear on acceleration.
