Bass Tube ???

Post by good vibes »

I have a Pioneer Bass Tube that I've had for about.... well since I got my License back in '96 It's a Pioneer andd I believe it is either a 6 1/2" or an 8" Driver, it's powered and had some nice kick to it in my extended cab pickup. Do you think it would sound decent in my Vibe? or should I get a new setup if so what would you sugest on a medium budget? Thanks in advance.Rob

well it all depends on what can fit. Probably no more than $800 if it were to be a whole system and no more than than $400 if it were to ba an amp and a sub or two.

Since you already have the tube, go ahead and stick it in the Vibe (do the install yourself to save a few bucks if you can!) and try it out for a few weeks. If you like what you hear, you're happy and saved some hard earned cash. If not, start looking around for equipment that will fit within your budget.I have a 8" Bazzoka added to Moon & Tunes. Plenty for me.Good luck!

It all depends on how much Bass you like- I would try it out and see if it is enough for you- If now check out http://www.ikesound.com they have good prices-

from what i've heard (i stress heard) bass tubes tend to distort. i spent about $550 for my subs/box/amp/top quality wiring at circuit city, including install. i have heard systems 3 times more powerful than mine that do not sound as good, because they were home installed. i think the install price, however steep it may be, is worth the money, unless you are really good at installing. you can't find my wires without looking for them. plus, if your dash gets scratched while you install, you're SOL. if they do it, they have to buy you a new dash piece! (happened to me). to make a long post short, i'd spring for the install

I have never heard of distortion caused from home installation- I have installed many many many stereos and never had a problem- The quality of the sound depends a TON on the amp you use- alot of people buy really nice subs and buy a pos amp and it will not sound good-

quote:i said that i heard bass tubes distortThat could be b/c a POS amp is pushing it (Legacy, Pyramid...), unless it's self-powered.I'll probably go with an Infinity Basslink since it's self-powered and compact. I want to keep my entire cargo area available at all time, so I am planning on mounting it under one of the rear seats, if possible. I've also seen some very good reviews about it.

He was so happy to tell me he bought a 1000W 4 channel amp.But how can we get 1000W when the amp. has only one 20A fuse???My JBL is rated 360W and has two 20A fuses...It is better to spend your money on quality, not on power.
