I just put in just under 10 gallons of premium at $3.57 per gallon. It jumped over the weekend from $3.52 here in Cedar Falls. On the bright side, it's quite a bit cheaper here than it was in Bettendorf. I filled up on Saturday morning at the cheapest station I could find on Gas Buddy. Premium was $3.66 there. It was up to $3.79 at most stations in the area.I started driving more conservatively toward the latter half of my tank and managed to get an average of 28.1 MPG with mixed driving. A lot of the miles were from interstate travel (typically going at about 75 MPH) but there was still quite a bit of city travel on that tank.I'm exited to see what I can get out of this tank. I've been much better about accelerating at a slower rate, coasting as much as I can get away with, and being more mindful of the speed limit. I expected it to make driving a bore but it's actually been pretty fun. I feel like I'm a safer, treating the car better, and am able to enjoy the time behind the wheel. All things considered, this seems like a good habit to have developed. One helpful tip that I've come across was the "hot coffee on the dash" technique. I can't remember if I read it on these forums or on the tips section of Fuelly but it seems to be helpful at times. Basically, pretend that there is a cup of hot coffee sitting on the dash. Adjust your driving technique so that this theoretical cup doesn't tip over. My take-offs and lane changes have been much smoother. It's amazing what a bit of psychology can do to get you to change your behavior. We'll see what kind of mileage I can achieve simply be being more careful as a driver.

Had my first ever $60.00 tank fill-up last week. Doesn't look like my fill-up today will be any cheaper than that.

I just filled up today and it was still $3.57/gallon, luckily. I was worried that it would shoot up before I had a chance to fill up.I managed to get an average of 30 MPG on that tank, as well. I'm pretty excited about that. I used to only get about 24-27 MPG.

Gosh at these gas prices! Fortunately most of the gas stations I've seen have been hanging around the $3.50s, other than the ones that tend to be more expensive anyway and I avoid unless my Vibe is screaming at me for a sip of gas. In Huntington Valley I found a new "cheap" Sunoco station and filled up at $3.51 per gallon on my way home. Another I passed was $3.53.Interestingly enough...the "cheap" Sunoco gas station became a more expensive one, selling gas at $3.59!

Just drove by our station and we are up to 3.64.. had to fight back the strong urge to kick someone where it counts. The no-name gas down the street is at 3.49. So much for whoever said that the recession ended last year.

But if you look at nearly every other country in the world, gas has been 3-4 x's higher in cost, and for YEARS than our own has.Even Canada has paid a higher premium for years on regular gas than have we.I guess up to this point, we've been kinda' lucky... and still are cause prices are still climbing everywhere else as well.If you want to blame higher costs on somebody, blame the all ready filthy rich guys at OPEC and those that are politically behind them.

Actually, I was a bit surprised. It was steady @ $3.64 ($3.639.) But then again, we are in oil country and it usually takes about a week for our prices to jump the way they are in other parts of the country. We'll get ours, just later than the rest of you.
