How to make it really shine?

Post by ligion »

Just have a question about what products do you guys use to give your vibe paint a real SHINE. When i go to the local wal mart or autoparts i just see a wall of random products and i have no idea what to get... I want to see my self and not just from 6 inches away

Yep- Wash, Claybar, Polish, Wax. Long process, I try to do it twice a year (beginning of spring/summer, probably in May, and middle/end of fall)

If you want a GREAT shine with no work, use the Turtle Wax Ice synthetic polish from Wal Mart. I am amazed how little I use on the whole car and how quickly I'm done. Great product.

I personally prefer Mother's products. I always wash the Vibe with Mother's California Gold Car Wash. Then about once a month (April thru November) I wax the Vibe using Mother's California Gold Pure Caranuba Liquid Wax applied with a small handheld orbital buffer. Twice a year (once in the spring and again in the fall) I use the Mother's Clay Bar System. After using the clay bar, I wash the Vibe a second time to remove all the contaminants and stuff left over from the clay bar. Then I follow that up with a coat of Nu Finish Scratch Doctor, followed by a coat of the Mother's California Gold Pure Caranuba Liquid Wax.

I second the Claybar & Megs NXT. Used it twice on the Vibe and the results are fantastic ! LOTS of work but well worth the effort. I always use my 3 day weekends for such an event LOL. One day to wash, next day to clay & 3rd to wax. This year will be extra cool because I threw on Refinish Restorer for the cladding. Good luck !

Any name brand claybar, polish compond, wax combination will be fine. The key is getting a random orbit polisher like the Porter Cable 7424XP. It will give you a beautiful polish result with much less sweat.

Good luck !+3! My exact process, once in the spring and the fall. Touchless car washes are instantly more effective after doing this. Dirt simply doesn't stand as much of a chance staying on the car. Takes me ALL DAY to do this, but it looks good ALL YEAR as a result. And with an Abyss paint job, that's saying a lot. It also helps that I found NXT car wash jugs and clay bar systems on clearance for half price. I am set for quit some time. Now to find the NXT wax for the same price!
