So, I finally got the recall letter from GM...and the local dealer has the parts.I got curious, and looked up where the powertrain control module is located: it is under the fan, you can see it under the glove box, on the passenger side.Well, mine has a big TOYOTA sticker on it.I thought ALL Vibes, Corollas, and Matrixes, made in N. America, were built using the Delphi PCM, and that SOME, but not ALL, of the Delphi modules were bad.I'm confuzzled, NOW!Right next to the PCM, there is a big Delphi sticker on the heater box. Carp: it was made in Juarez, Mexico! Mexican parts on my 'American made', Toyota designed, Vibe.Anyways: is it safe to assume if the PCM has a Toyota sticker on it, it shouldn't need to be replaced.....right...????From what I read (here, of course...) all the 'bad' PCM's were made by Delphi....and I though ALL the cars in the recall had the Delphi module.I sure as hell don't want GM taking out a perfectly good Toyota PCM and replacing it with a (Mexican???) Delphi module So, it SEEMS like I shouldn't even NEED to even take it in....RIGHT??? Please let me know your thoughts on this matter!TIA!!
Nothing like comparing your serial to that chart generously provided by fellow viber micbarrichttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=42564Here is directly the file:http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/1082/ecm.pdfI was happy mine cleared so no need for replacement When we deal with computers and servers on a daily basis, we get to understand the golden rule :If it aint Broken DON'T fix it...
Thanks for the information, VinlandrI need to spend more time here, obviously. And my ECM DOES need to be replaced, unfortunately. Well, at least now I know for sure. Many thanks!

This one also shows the GM part numbers for the new PCMs (see page 3):http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/a...5.pdfFor those who haven't had their PCMs replaced yet, it might be a good idea to make sure the dealer orders the right part. There have been reports of some dealers installing the wrong one, causing driveability problems and a CEL.Also, PartsVoice.com can show you whether your local dealers already have the parts in stock:http://www.partsvoice.com/partsearch

I have a 2007 and still haven't gotten the second recall letter. I haven't heard of anyone with a 2007 getting the second letter yet.To quote, after you click the reply button, scroll down to the message that you want to quote and click the quote button. I'll second micbarric's comment about the "...dot.gov..." chart being better. Just got back from having my 2008 vibe checked and didn't need the PCM replaced. The ecm.pdf chart said replace it (89661-02R50 LOT#7197). The other one didn't and the dealer agreed.Quote, originally posted by micbarric »I found a much better link since posting that one. After seeing I needed a new one, I called the nearest dealer, they confirmed it and ordered the part. A week later I had a new PCM and no issues. I'd just call if I were you...get it out of the way.
