I plan on upgrading to one from my BB Curve. Although there might be a backorder like there is on the Incredible.

Oh the latest and greatest Droid is out, huh? Is THAT why they had a "buy one droid, get one free" promo when I paid my bill last week. Tempting, but no can do.

I think it's a little big for my taste... as one reviewer described it "it's like talking with a frozen waffle up to your head". I've got the Incredible and love it.

By the reviews I thought it was gonna be huge, but I looked at a dummy phone and it isn't much bigger then my Storm.I thought it was gonna be about .5" wider and 1" longer then the Storm but in reality it is only about .5" longer. I am gonna try the phone out, I should be picking mine up tomorrow about 2:00-2:30

Not sure how big the Droid X is.... I have the Evo 4G (4.3" screen).... if it's that size it's great. I love mine.

Size wise the Evo 4G is what the X is being compared to.

I picked mine up today, I will try to get some pics up later tonight to show the size difference between the Black Berry Storm and the X. The suspense is killing me I have been so busy today that I haven't had a chance to play with it yet!

I picked up my Droid (the original Motorola Droid) in June...I had tried the Devour first but the reception sucked and so did the camera. The keyboard on the Droid isn't too hot, but I've been using the onscreen keyboard a lot...especially since I changed that. It's one thing I am happy with for sure--I've gone through a bunch of different ROMs, kernels, themes, etc and like the way my phone is set up now. Which is to say, basically everything is different Have a ChevyNo1 ULV 1.1GHz kernel running Bugless Beast 0.4 themed with NexTheme, font restored to stock, LauncherPro as a home replacement (I love the dock), a replacement lock screen, replacement boot animation, dark version of the MMS app, Smart Keyboard Pro and snagged the last version of Fancywidget before HTC sent them a C&D.And it's all backed up so I can try some more ROMs out heh :DSounds like Motorola is doing their best to lock their new phones down...not sure of the wisdom in that--make it so you know it's not accidental but otherwise let people play with them if they want.I'm a bit more interested in the Droid 2...or if you could retrofit the Droid 2 keyboard onto the original

I actually canceled my order after I found out that the X can't be rooted. Decided to get the Incredible instead. When I buy something, I should be allowed to modify it as I wish. So Motorola got the big FU from me today.

That's what I liked about the old WM platform phones, you could do anything you wanted to them, Same with the older Black Berrys when they were more stable! The Incredible was my second choice, but I really wanted the bigger screen for movies during plane trips, and when work is slow.Psiu: So your pretty happy with your Droid now? How were the updates? That was one thing when BB switched to their new OS. Updates were different for everyone, if it worked for your neighbor then it wont work for you. I had nothing but bad luck with my Storm. I still think my 8830 WE phone was one of my favorites and my old Curve was great also, I never had any issues with either.Well here are a few pics to show the size, Yes it is a big phone, almost Zach Morris big by todays standards. Now I just need to play with it to familiarize myself.

As far as official updates...I don't know.I bought mine in June, so I avoided the long drawn out torture they had getting the 2.1 update out.And I've been rocking (some version of) Froyo since the 2nd day I had it. They had an early leak of it out, I put that on. Then what sounds like the official one that isn't coming out until August most likely got leaked, and I put that on. Now I'm running a custom ROM based off that leak with a replacement kernel (higher speed and lower voltage).Mydroidworld and droidforums.net are both good, friendly helpful sources of info I've found. Mydroidworld in particular, very helpful and tolerant of questions (unlike some forums where they just yell at you and tell you to search, or go look through an 80 page thread).Should be interesting to see if the community can get past whatever roadblocks Motorola has in place. And what else might leak out from within Moto for that matter.edit: Guess they EOL'd the Droid so hopefully this new system gets bypassed since the Droid 2 is likely to have the same restrictions.

i'll be getting the htc desire next month when my carrier finally gets it. it's 98% the incredible, just a little more ram and one feature removed IIRC. can't wait to finally get a decent phone. i'm just not excited for the price of the phone plus an increase in my bill. i really really wish i didn't need to buy a data package, i just want a freaking cool phone that i can mod to my hearts desire(not meant to be a pun). i did a little searching and it looks like the bootloader animation can be changed on the desire/incredible. i'm also hoping i can change the OS to something else or at least mod the way it looks.
None. Vibe is gone.

Might want to check into the Samsung Galaxy S version your carrier should be getting. They are releasing 4 different ones (I think Sprint is the only one with a physical keyboard) and sounds like it's going to be made for hacking.

The Galaxy S (Facsinate) for Verizon isn't scheduled for release until late summer/early fall. I personally don't want to wait that long for a new phone.

It's a droid... 'nuff said... Had nothing but problems with every droid based phone that most everyone I know owned. I myself took over the ex's old samsung POS... upgraded that to a Blackberry Torch and haven't looked back! Still have an old Blackberry pearl with the trackball, it survived 3 years of abuse!Brandon, get the iphone!!! Become one with the ipeople!!!

I went through 3 X's in 2 weeks. Then I had a Samsung Fascinate that worked great for 5 months, then I had 3 others in 4 weeks. I gave up on Droid and with my recent conversion to Mac, I ordered me an iPhone 4. From my experience, stay away from Android.

I on the other hand have not had any issues with my X, it is probably one of the most reliable phones I have ever had next to my Samsung SCH-I760.

My friend's Samsung Droid (sorry forget which model) has been excellent. His previous HTC model was a pain. Favorite app has to be the free police scanner. Works as well as a stand alone scanner or the computer link. If my old Nokia holds out for 3-6 more months, I am going to seriously look into the Windows Phone 7. I am waiting on the success or failure of the next couple updates. Main reason to give it a try is the Zune Pass. I think I would rather spend my money on actually building a music collection than "renting" Xm. Besides, Xm's sound quality does leave something to be desired. Regular FM sounds better on my base Vibe's sound system. Downloaded the Zune marketplace today to get a feel of it. Jury is still out, but am liking it. Mostly been doing the 30 second samples. Some might find it very intuitive, but I am a little too old school so it will take me a while. As soon as I find my windows live ID, I will actually sign in and do the free trial.I always kind of dug the zune hd mpeg players and it's features. A phone that incorporates all of those features will probably knock me off the fence. Hopefully there will be more app development. Kind of want HD radio as a feature too.
