2010 vibe biggest 17inch tire possible??

Post by buggy1533 »

I have 2010 vibe 2.4l with16 inch factory steel wheels. I purchased a set of scion tc 17 inch alloy wheels I want to put on my vibe. Im having a hard time finding out the largest 17 inch tire I can mount without any rubbing etc... I would like to put 225/60/17 or I found a real nice set of 235/55/17. I have read thru previous post but wasn't able to get answer. Tire guys say just put them on and see if they rub??? I have noticed alot of you put on 215/225- 50/55- 17 Anybodt with any idea on my options etc??? Thanks in advance!!

Based on the upgrade from 16 OEM to 17-inch TC rims, I think a 60 sidewall might be the maximum you should go without issues. That and I really haven't heard of people going to a 65 sidewall on our vehicle. MAYBE Vibolista, but I think he's running 60s as well.I still have my factory 16-inch alloys on my 2006 (and I don't know if the gaps and measurements are the same as your newer Vibe), but the 60 sidewall is PERFECT for me. A litte extra cushion than the original 55 sidewall, and they look great. Potholes no longer make me completely cringe. More of a wince. Tire pros, correct me if I am wrong, the more sidewall Dale goes up, the more apt the tire will rub front to back in the well, right? It would take a big upgrade to rub the top of the well... I'm looking forward to seeing what you do, Dale. I originally wanted to go the TC rim route, but backed out. Good luck.

Wow'that was fast!! I know what you mean by the pot holes! The wheel wells on this car seem very large for such a small car? I am looking at the hankook optimo 225/60/17. I want to make sure I fill up the wheel well as much as possible without any rubbing etc.. I had to buy the tc wheels they were just so cheap and mint cond!!!Im still up in the air about swapping the tpms. I think I might go the tape route.

The 2.4L has a different bolt pattern than the 1.8L. I'm not sure the wheels will fit.

Vibolista is running a 16 inch 215/60 snow tire that is only a little wider than a normal 205... probably measures out 208 to 210. Now, that said, I have a 08 Vibe, so I'm not familiar with the 2nd gen configurations. My summer tires are 225/50 17s. The Summer and possibly the Winter tires could have gone up to the next taller size and still fit. A while back we had a member that stuck a 225/60 16 under a first gen Vibe without trouble. I would want to look that up to make sure. I have always wanted to set up a wheel size/ bolt pattern/ offset list for first and second gen Vibes with all the tire sizes that would fit, so anyone with a question about tire or wheel upgrades could easily find the information. Hope someone with a second gen Vibe steps up with definitive information about what could fit on your car. Scion tC wheels won't fit a 2.4L Vibe as other have stated due to bolt pattern differences. If you bought them and can't use them, there is usually a ready market for them right here on genvibe. They are a nice looking wheel that are perfect for all 1st gen or the 2nd gen Vibes with the smaller engine.

Sorry to hear the TC wheels won't work (sure you don't have Xb wheels? I think those might fit).If you now have to sell them, both patmanbbe and bodhi tree777 are looking to buy.

Oh well.. I was confused the scion xb are the one I was looking for. I guess hey will be going back on CL. I discovered boltpattern .com after reading another post. There is a guy with a 2006 pontiac torrent? that has the factory 235/55/17 on them with goodyear triple threads I was looking at. When I look at boltpattern.com to compare the two vehicles side by side they almost match up.Has anyone tried these out before on a vibe?? Alot of the pontiac gto run very wide tires so I am hoping the width won't be a problem.Sorry guys I am a newbie when it comes to this stuff and it can get $$$$ if you don't ask the right questions.

Offsets for 1st gen vibes range from 35 to 45mm. 35 mm offset would help keep a wider tire away from the inside of the fender and whatever the tire might come in contact with. Not sure what the 2nd gen OEM offsets for the steelies and alloys. Does anyone have a list of the OEM offsets for all available 2nd gen wheels?

you will need to buy new lug nuts for whatever rims you use. 09 and 10 vibes with alloy rims use that rediculous shouldered lug nut

I believe that the offset on my aftermarket 17" XXR rims are 38mm... The stock 16" steelies are 38mm as well as I recall.

OP: interested in selling (and shipping) the TC wheels? If the price is right I may be interested. Kinda far, but I'm in the market.
