I just got a 2003 Vibe on Monday and have already spent many hours browsing through the GenVibe site, helping me diagnose the little things that I want to repair on my otherwise beautiful new car. I just wanted to say thanks and you guys (and gals) are awesome. Back soon.... DLM

Funny, my friend got an 03 on Monday too. How about that for a coincidence?Welcome to the site! We'd love to see the '03. There are a few of us here in Minnesota, but they seem to be more in the Metro area. Either way, enjoy your stay and welcome to the Vibe community! You will never be let down by the Vibe!

Welcome, Mano! Shadow is a great color. Almost as great as Abyss. Ha!Would you consider anything you're trying to diagnose "serious?" My guess is "no," if you felt comfortable dropping coin on your new baby.Maybe if we can figure out where this new meet is going to be this year, you might be able to make it. Michigan and Indiana have been mentioned for June. Stay tuned. Or is it logged in?
Weellllllll... Okay,I have to say I was a little overexcited. I'd been looking for a new (used) car for a while, Matrix or a Vibe, so I knew what I was looking for. I had driven an '04 Vibe base manual 105K that morning, but it didn't quite feel right. Then I checked Craigslist at noon and this '03 auto M&T 134K popped up. I went right over to drive it. Liked it, check Carfax on my phone: clear. It felt and sounded good on the road and was in pretty much immaculate condition interior and exterior. I put down some earnest money til the bank opened on Monday. To make a long story short (and to embarrass myself), I neglected to do the most obvious and basic things you should do when looking at a used car: Check for leaks, check condition of oil, AT fluid, etc. When I picked the car up that night (cold start this time!) I noticed the blower motor didn't work on lowest speed, and more importantly, there was a ticking (slight knocking or pinging) for the first couple minutes until it warmed up. Needless to say it made me a bit nervous. The seller graciously gave me $100 back after the sale toward a new blower motor (not that that's actually the problem ), but it was still private party, as-is, etc. So now I'm trying to figure out if I have a lemon that's about to go at any moment, or if it's just a collection of little things that will work themselves out with a little diligence and elbow grease, and will last me til 200K. (I put in a bottle of Techron, and I cleaned the MAF sensor and the OCV today and things seem to be better already). My biggest concern right now is the color of the oil. Judging from the window sticker, the oil is only about 1500mi. old, but there is rust-colored sludge showing up on the end of the dipstick, and looking in the oil filler hole and at the OCV, it seems pretty tarnished. Just an older engine, maybe? I hope.... All that said, I'm effing LOVING the car. It still drives, sounds, and looks GREAT! (although I'm still tracking down little road rattles and squeaks.) I just ordered Polk Audio db651's for front and rear, and will be putting in my Sony Bluetooth HU and an Infinity Basslink as soon as the dash kit arrives. I know, I know! I'll get some photos up ASAP! DLM
