I posted elsewhere. But could not find it.I got the PO133 code. And changed the intake gasket like most have said to do. Car ran smoother. Then the weather turned cold(24F in morning) for a short bit and PO133 pops up and it idled with more vibration during warm up than it should. Then realized I was given an outdated intake gasket the 1st time. Now I have changed to the ORANGE gasket as stated in a 2007 bulletin. Definately fits tighter. But the idle during warm up has it's "buzz" thru the seat same with the last gasket. WHEN fully warm it's smopther. I have replaced or added clamps to all hoses. Thinking there is still a leak somewhere??? I now think it's entirely something else amiss. I looked at the trouble chart for PO133. There are many possibilities. It lists low fuel pressure can cause this. Honestly, the owners manual does not specify the fuel filter replacement. I see the fuel hose under the hood need the brake master cylinder. Has anyone had issues like this or checked their fuel pressure??? And do I have to get the special adapter that the Matrix service manual specifies, to do this check?

There is a TSB about P0133 codes and having the ECU reflashed (Not replaced) to fix it, and covered under the 8/80000 emissions warranty. Also a P0133 can be a bad O2 Sensor locatede on top of the Mainfold. Good luck!

Remember I have a 2005 AWD not FWD...no drive by wire on mine. Some of the bulletins are for DBW only. Many here have had the same code. Dealer changes O2 sensor and the code comes back. Also where I live the 8/80k does not apply. It depends on year of car and state you live in.I think I saw that bulletin. Do you know where I can find this? WHo knows reflash GM or Toyota? GM dealers here are clueless. ALso the Matrix manual gives many possibilities including emissions stuff by the fuel tank.Me, I need all possibilities and people who have solved this "133" by something other than the intake gasket.

Remember I also have an 2005 AWD (albeit a trix) and I know full well about it being DBC and the ECU. There is A TSB about PO133 and the ECU P/N (that I have) thats suggests they get re-flashed, NOT REPLACED. It's basicly a program update. The 8/80K is a federal law not state. I'll try and look up the TSB

TSB does not mention "driving issues". I have been getting this code once a year for 3+ years. ANd it would wipe itself away...aka disappear. But no driving issues till recently. Well, I am sure GM dealers haven't a clue about this one. ..rewriting an PCM. I also thought Things were covered to 8/80k or 7/70k. I had dealer argument regarding this. Law changed here in 2008. Meaning your car needs to be 2008 or later to get the 8/80k on the same stuff as California. THE 8/80 IS TOYOTA'S federal emissions warranty. Which has been Cali's law for many years. ANd toyota adopted it nation wide. NOT GM. I have a Vibe. But that's 7/70k here. Oh ..I just turned 70k...oh well. That's a Toyota bulletin. Which won't help with my GM stealer. They fight you on every thing where I live. I will check my owners manual again. I will check around and see my options. Thanks,

I just checked my owner's manual...it says federal emsissions law covers PCM, and CATs to 8y/80k. But the issue being. The GM stealer gets the car for any repairs. They will claim they trouble shoot it, and if the part was not replaced. It will be billable for some type of labor $$. Trust me on this. They are (removed) heads. This is why this is my last GM car. At least I have paper work(TSB) to shown them. It actually may be cheaper to get an O2 sensor than deal with a stealer right now. Thanks again.

OH I do appreciate the help. I do not know why you mention the coil packs? Misfire code is a flashing check engine light. None of that yet. And poor idle is typically during first run of the day about 1/2 way to what I think is fullly warmed up.. I noticed ONE more ODD thing. When this all started I put some FI cleaner in the fuel...thinking it was bad gas. Now I notice 1st start of the morning. The fuel pump does not make any sound when turning the ingition to "ON" but not attempting to start. It always made a 1 second or so whine. BUT very faint. Now I hear nothing. Either the FI cleaner really did the job and the injectors are not leaking anything over night or this is another symptom.Yet the car starts right up. I am going thru the Matrix manual again. As stated before there are many possibilities to the total cause. May have something to do with the Charcoal can and Evap system also. Thanks, Jason

are your coil packs oily? If yes, that's why. They have to stay oil free. Q:That O2 you put in. Was it the exact type Denso as OEM ? Pic looks a bit different than OEM. Also was it difficult to remove? ANd what's the torque spec when installing a new O2? Lastly, why did you replace yours ? They are suppose to be good to 100k. ANd here's another possible thing. It says in the manual not to top off the fuel when fillling. Basically stop when it "clicks". I always go to the next whole "$dollar" when filling. It stops at $25.50. I go to $26. Could this have caused this issue over time by having too much fuel in the tank. May have messed up an emissions EVAP or charcoal can doohickey?

Yes the the coil paks are oil free, I have a thread started already.O2: yes that is the one I bought and it looks exactly like the old one (don't think the pics are exact) and was a direct fit on the connector also. I had the engine warm and simple to remove (I suggest the wrench). Normally they give you some anti-seize for the threads, do not get it on the sensors. I don't know what the Torque spec is. I used about 40-45 Foot/Lbs. Solid arm pull....LOL. Why I change it out??? P0133, However it didn't fix the problem. I suspect it has more to do with the TuRD ECU or TRD wiring harness fro the SC. It hasn't come back in the past 3 weeks (had to adjust the wiring). I've read about those EVAP cans and causes for them to crap out. But I really don't know.

Well, the PO133 only happens for me when the weather is cold and more often especially raining. I did change the intake gasket 2 times. So that is no longer in question. I just did a valve clearance check. Which is the same as many motorcycles I have worked on in the past. All valves check out being in middle of the specs. So now it's likely a fueling issue. I changed all the spark plugs to proper iridium NGKs. All came out looking the same "ghost WHITE". So now I am down to either weak fual pump pressure, partially clogged filter or bad injector. I have noticed I can no longer hear my fuel pump after the car sits over night like I used to...a faint whur no longer happens for the usual second or so time it takes to pressurize the system. SO I am leaning towards working on the filter and pump . Checking the pressure described in the Matrix manual involves Toyota proprietary parts and tools to check...UGH! HAs anyone yet checked their presure w/o wrecking the fuel hose by the engine???Others have changed the fuel filter...but the owner's manual makes no statement that this is ever needed. The AWD pump is different than the FWD. Anyone have history of pump or filter issues on the unique AWD Matrix/Vibes or any Vibe/Matrix needing these items replaced???

this is over a year later since my last post. Fuel pressure checked good. The "133" has not returned. But what I did find was the EVAP hoses- ALL the EVAP hoses to be cracked where they connect to the manifold and solenoid. Using 5/16" fuel/emissions hose... ALL was replaced and the car runs smoother than it has in years. Just $2.00 for the hose. The hose toyota installs on these is junk. Also put better clamps on the hoses that connect to the manifold. PCV and "breather". Do not use screw/worm clamps on these or other light duty hoses at the cam cover or manifold. You need to look for double wire, or other smooth clamps. Like at the radiator hose clamps,. I call them..."spring clamps", are great oif you can find them in the correct size. Bottom line, the EVAP hoses should be replaced on any and all corolla, vibe or matrix.
