What did you do to your Vibe today?

Sunday I installed Sylvania SilverStar 7443 bulbs in the taillights. It does make them noticeably brigher which is exactly what I was hoping for . I will post some pictures tonight after it gets dark (I have forgotten to take pictures the last two nights ).Today I painted the exhaust manifold heat shield black. It turned out pretty good, but I may eventually have it powder coated so it will be more durable. More pictures are in my garage.I also removed the TRD decal from my TRD forged aluminum oil filler cap in anticipation of having Ryan at Grafx Werks make me a custom one . The cap actually looks pretty good without any decal on it, but unfortunately there are little numbers etched into the top of the cap which looks kind of goofy. If it weren't for those numbers, I would leave it as is.

Yesterday I didn't do much anything with MY Vibe, but I got my friend into one! Thanks to my help his mom bought him a 2003 Vibe AWD in good mechanical condition with 151k miles for a good price! I drove the thing to an appointment I had, and it rides, smooth, and handles GREAT! Just as a Vibe should. Slower than my Vibe off the line, but as expected. It needs an alignment, a new o2 sensor, and a wheel balance, but he was super happy when drove me home. Another happy Vibe owner! I'm glad I got him into a Vibe. My other friend wants one too, when he gets his license. So I've gotten two interested in the Vibe and one of them into a Vibe. Success!!

Yep, I did. I also gave him the link to grafxwerks. But he really isn't too much into that. He just needed a car, so I helped him. He named her Sophie.He's such a dork...I told him this was going to Genvibe, and he made THAT face... And yes, it is a platinum monotone just like mine! It has the original Vibe carpet floor mats, which I kinda envy, and plenty of emergency stuff in with the spare tire, none of which he'll probably won't touch. I'm going to try to flatten out that (removed) RAPIDS NISSAN on the plate frames, ala crabbyvibe. I may also steal his rear Pontiac star.

He really is dorking looking, but:1) Dorky is in these days it seems. And 2) He will probably grow out of it... to some extent at least.He looks like the typical late-bloomer type. 16, but still hasn't grown into himself.Give him 10yrs and he's just liable to be a whole different person... a 26 yr old dork. j/k!!!!!

Put new tires on the Vibe. Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring. Hopefully I'll get more out of these ones than I did the last set.

Treated the cladding with Refinish Restorer. Vibe looks awesome. Im still in shock how great this product is. With this stuff on, I no longer have regrets that I didnt buy a montone LOL !

I remounted my front passenger side speaker today and have been messing with my EQ.I also tried shampooing my floor mats. They've been sitting in the back since I bought the car and they could really use a cleaning. Unfortunately, I got bored after doing the first one. I'm just going to save that task for when I can do a thorough interior detailing. It's not quite dry around here yet so I'll just be waiting until it warms up more.I've been really wanting to try Refinish Restorer on my cladding also. It does seem like everyone that uses it becomes a big fan. My cladding could use some improvement. I would certainly rather have it painted to match the Neptune but that's pretty cost prohibitive right now.

I just got in from putting a few tiny scraps of Dynamat on my rear view morror (more specifically, the map light covers). I've been noticing a rattle coming from the front trim. I had just assumed that it was the dash trim and was going to deal with it until I do my thorough sound deadening. My friend was riding with me and thought that it was coming from the mirror. I held onto it during a big bass hit and the rattle was eliminated.I'm lucky that he pointed that out. I would have completely disregarded it as a possibility. I can only imagine the disappointment of tearing apart the dash, lining it with a sound deadener, putting it all back, and then discovering that it didn't help.I put some small strips of the stuff between where the plastic light cover hooks into the mirror enclosure. The fit is much more secure and no longer moves around freely. It certainly did the trick! I tested it out with some heavy bass hits and the rattle is gone! I've been doing a bit more research on sound deadening. I think that I'll focus on getting the doors and hatch thoroughly covered before worrying about anything else. Those are easy enough to take apart so it won't take hours to disassemble and put back together.My current plan is to get some eDead 45 and eDead v3. They're low cost but should still provide solid results. It seems like a few coats of the liquid topped off with the mat would do a decent job.They suggest eDead 80 or v3 for the roof, which I'd like to eventually do, as well. Hopefully it wouldn't be too heavy and cause dipping.I apologize for rambling on and on about deadening. I'm pretty excited about it, though!

just got back from the salvage yard. picked up some cross bars for the roof rack off of a 2003. $25just have to research genvibe.com on how to install without breaking the plastic end caps of the rail system.

Just pull straight up on the end caps. The caps themselves should be fine but the small plastic "plug' that holds them on may break, nothing you can do about that. They can be bought on line if you didn't swipe any extras from the junkyard.

washed and waxed it today.Did a fair amount of "cruisin" around down here at the beach in Gulf Shores, AL and beleive me when I say The Vibe-age turned many a head It was in the 80's down here and I was just ridin around blaring my music.lolwatchin people point and break their necks to see the Vibe ride by. Even had about 5 people walk around it at one point checking out the interior.Man I love my Vibe

put some heat shield tape on the "engine" side of the K&N Typhoon air box.also, slapped on some door sill plates. got them on ebay for $70; they were the only set the seller had.

Installed:Power Enterprise CamconFibre Customs "Neptune" EyelidsCarbon Fiber Engine CoverTossed a couple silicon bags in my drivers side headlight to hopefully get rid of the moisture in there.Tried to install the Rear seatback storage bags w/first aid kit, but found out that the tie down bolts that are suppose to secure it to the back of the rear seats are too short. These are the oem tie downs that came with my Vibe. I wonder if the Matrix ones are longer.

I hope they can do something to fix the tire right this time .

A new OCV filter and adjusted the throttle so Vib doesn't want to leap if I don't fully depress the pedal. Hopefully these changes will drastically improve my mileage!

Sure!! They used to sell kits to DIY a windshield repair. I guess they still do?The scary part was not knowing if it would make the crack worse. You are putting a fair amount of pressure on a small area of the glass, so if it's already begun to spider-web, it probably won't work.But from what I understand (never did it myself) if you are not mechanically challenged, look at the crack first and take your time, you can achieve professional results using one of these DIY kits.

I sure did. I used the Permatex Windshield Repair Kit from Advance Auto Parts. Ended up paying about $9 with online coupon. Seems to have worked. Can't hardly see the chip anymore. The spider legs are pretty much invisible now. Pretty easy actually. Just follow the instructions. Should have taken pics, but hindsight is always 20/20:P .http://shop.advanceautoparts.c..._____ it is just me or are the vibe windshields magnets for debris?

There was a leak between the bead of the tire and the edge of the wheel, so they took the tire off, cleaned the inside of the wheel up really well and re-mounted and balanced it. I gave the Vibe a hand wash. It took me an hour and the water was leaking and cold, but it was so worth it. Now I'm seeing some spots that need to be touched up (that rear bumper, I swear...) and getting ideas for how to go about some things. I also Rain-Xed my windshield and rear window. Bring it on, rain! Hopefully I'll have some aftermarket driving lights installed by tomorrow. So far this week I've spent a good hour or two with the Vibe after I got home from school, and have LOVED it.

Got my rims bolted up. Its a mixed bag of feelings here. I've been really wanting to get them on, so that's good. But a am very dissapointed the way they look against my silver painted brakes. I did it while I was on my winter alloys, looked great. I thiught with the summer wheels it would give a nice pop with the color difference. But I'm pretty sure I hate it. As soon as I get a chance ill have to redo everything black.

yea. o well now i know. i am glad tho that i just used the spray can stuff and didnt spend big bucks on the stuff that lasts forever. im gonna look into the chip repair stuff. mine has no legs of any kind just a small, very small chip i got from a not so nice semi on my last road trip. so it should work fine.

Wow... Its... clean. My dad and I worked on the driving lights. They're mounted and look good! Now just some final wiring (connect to positive terminal of abttery, set up switch, get a plate to fit the switch), and they'll be ready for work! Hopefully redouts for the tails this weekend, and eyelids soon after. But I also checked by MAF sensor, and wouldn't ya know it, the thing is dark as the carbon deposits on the pistons of a Mazda Millenia my auto class took apart. So, that will be cleaned too. If this doesn't help boost my FE, I don't know what will. As is I'm one of the most conservative drivers I know... Actually, I AM the most conservative... Huh. Pretty rare for a teen, don't ya think?

Changed my oil and got the tires rotated, and ordered the new pedal. Oil change was about 500 miles overdue, but we had business every day! Oh well.

The other day I started masking off an area and laying down foil to start my custom sub enclosure. I have a big test tomorrow morning so I didn't get a chance to do much on it today. Tomorrow would be a good opportunity to get the base fiber layer down but some family stuff came up so I'm not sure that I'll be in a position to work on it.I also took the crossbars off of my roof racks and removed the antenna. I doubt I'll be needing the crossbars anytime soon and I hardly ever listen to the radio. Even without the antenna, I get decent enough reception in the city. Hopefully the crossbar removal will net me an extra mile per gallon or so.

I vacuumed the heck out of all the carpet (about a 30 minute job) and then dyed it all black. Then did the same with the floor mats. I removed the rear door panels and plasti-dipped the section where the handle in the door is. Finished that and put em back in. Taped off the fabric on the front door panels and dyed IT black. Looks great.Tomorrow I reinstall the carpet. Should be a breeze. I may decide to clean the seats up and dye parts of them as well. Just something to try out before i get them reupholstered. If all that goes as smoothly as possible, I'll begin the process of removing the headliner and dyeing it black. I got the bug guys....I got it BaaAaAAaaAaAAaaaAD!!!!I need some volunteers to throw crazy ideas at me for fabricating fog lights as well....yet another project in the works
