Aftermarket System

Okay, I have a 2006 Vibe, with the 6-Disk CD Changer and the stock 10" sub. Could someone tell me how to install an aftermarket head unit? I know how to in a normal car, but I'm assuming it'd more complicated because of the stock sub. I can get my hands on a Kenwood head unit, a 1000w amp, and 3 10" subs in a box, for pretty cheap. However, I doubt my ability to install that stereo, because this car seems complicated.However, if I do end up doing it, that means I can put that stock woofer and it's enclosure up for sale, which I'm sure a bunch of people would be interested in.I just had a though. Would I be able to use the factory head-unit, bypass the stock amp, and just run it to the new amp which will push the 3 subs?

So I can hook that thing up to the factory stereo, then connect it to my after-market amp? It's four channel, so then I could use the stock 200w amp to just push the front speakers, and my 1000w amp to push the 3 subs I have?If I got an after-market head unit, would I still need that?

If you want to connect an aftermarket stereo to the factory amp and just drive your speakers, then you can you use this. Then use the sub-out from your receiver to your 1000w amp.You have to have SOMETHING that will allow you to connect to the factory amp.

Um, if you'd like to get rid of that stock sub as in the whole panel...maybe we can arrange something lol.

Well, this will probably be turning into a summer project, because I can't really work too much on my car while it's parked on the side of the street in Philadelphia. However, when I do get around to this, there is a 95% chance of me getting rid of that stock sub, enclosure and all.My plan as of now is to continue to use the stock amp to push the front speakers, which I will probably keep stock. I will be getting another amp and using that to push the subs I get for the back, which will either be 3 ten inch subs, 2 twelve inch subs, or a single (maybe 2) fifteen inch subs. I will also definitely be replacing the stock head unit.So, to wire all of this up, do I still need that stupid thing to get the speakers up to line level? Or can I do it old school, just 2 amps, a head unit, and a wiring harness?

I would highly recommend changing out the front speakers. Before I made the swap to infinity's my 3 12's totally drowned out anything. Now with the infinity's I have a good balance. The stock Amp pushes them pretty well actually.

I hooked up my amp to just drive the sub by using line level converter and wired it into the rear speaker wires
