Shock destroyed my keyless entry?

Post by AdmRose »

So I was getting out of my Vibe tonight and I got shocked when I took the key out of the ignition then again when exitting the vehicle. Unfortunately I was holding my keyless entry remote in the hand that got shocked when I was exited. Now my lock button on the keyless entry fob won't work and my dome lights won't shut off automatically anymore. What the heck could I have done?

It sounds like one of your doors are not shut all the way. The keyfob will not lock the doors unless they are all shut.

You are talking simple static electricity, very common in cold dry weather.A static shock most likely will not kill your remote, if it did mine would have been fried hundreds of times over!I agree, check all of your doors and rear lid. Also the battery does die on these things after a few years.DaveLet us know what you find.
