2005 Vibe - recall for PCM done CEL still on

Post by rustysteel »

Hello,I have had an on going problem with our '05 Pontiac Vibe for over 2 years now. I've replaced both 02 sensors, plugs, kept oil changes and other maintenance has been taken car of. Just had the PCM replaced due to recall and I thought that would clear the CEL but it is still on. Any other ideas, I haven't checked the lasted code.thanksGlenn

I will get the codes, just wondered if anyone had a similar issue before/after recall. Last one I had was for the primary 02 sensor. This continued even after the 02 sensors (secondary and primary) were changed. I thought the PCM was the culprit but even when I disconnect the battery and clear the CEL, it comes back on with a minute.I'll borrow a code reader and get back to you. thanks.

That's an OPEN cicuit on the heater for the front O2 sensor (located on the exhaust mainfold). Was the new O2 sensor an OEM or aftermarket? If aftermarket was it a direct fit or did you need to splice wires for it? I'd check the wiring and connectors for it and make sure it all looks good. If so you may be able to check the resistance accross the hearter to make sure it isn't open. The hearters in this thing are nothing more than a resistor. Goodluck!

The resistance across the O2 heater should be 5 - 14 ohms
