8.9 quake hit Japan, supposedly dangerous waves could come at 3am our time. I'm at a high elevation, so no worries there, but my mom has tried to call family there and the call can't get through

I hope my resort is still there, don't wanna replan the trip coming up.I was paroozing (sp?) online and thought about you HPL! Stay safe and keep the Vibe dry.
WHERE ARE YOU, HPL??I hope everything is all right? I saw this thread this morning and had watched some news (mostly CNN) but their coverage is based in Japan not Hawaii. CNN is so lame any more, as are most of the "news" channels. They focus on one thing, what they want you to see and know about. More like a police state than actual news around the world. They seem to forget that such anomalies are not localized but affect people in far off places as well.

Thank you, everybody! We're nowhere near water. The damage was to boat docks and boats mostly, and some flooding of beachfront hotels and things. and Millster gets an "A+" for the day for the 'okina usage!
yep. glad there wasn't too much damage.18 days til I arrive your way, chicka! And nothing exciting to report here. I went to bed since Anchorage wasn't on the list.
I just got a message from Antoine, owner/founder/ADMIN of http://www.mazdas247 for whom I mod. He lives in Kobe. If your relatives are anywhere near there they should be all right.

Quote, originally posted by HawaiiPontiacLover » and Millster gets an "A+" for the day for the 'okina usage! Honestly, I didn't know there was any other way. This is all just tragic. Was watching more news video and viewing more reports. I just can't even wrap my head around it all. The loss of life, the loss of... everything.
It took some quick thinking on my part, and I have a friend in the J travel bureau who said they couldn't make international calls, but could make/receive local calls. I gave her the number, she passed it on to a friend there, and within minutes, got good news.
