2009 GT Moonroof Control Panel/maplight removal

Post by joshuaeb09 »

While trying to remove a burned out map light on my 09 GT my fat fingers managed to push it up inside and now its rattling around. I don't really see any way to remove it and have looked through the forums and haven't found much regarding it.Just for reference : This worthless thing with the compartment that cant really hold anything. Also if anyone knows what size bulb these map lights take it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

For anyone that is interested the damn thing just comes straight down it is held in with plastic pins much like the ones that hold on door panels , etc. I suggest using a panel pulling tool and attack it from the windshield facing side. I never discovered what size bulb it takes as I hard wired in some custom blue LED's. Attached is a post pic.

Glad you got it figured out. I have removed the lenses but never the entire thing. The LEDs look good. I believe the bulbs are 168/194.Great to see another '09 LPM GT around here !

Nice work so far At some point I will be removing this entire compartment and modifying it BIG TIME Seeing how you can't store JACK up there, then why have it at all Instead this will make a nice home for my ScangaugeII and posible a few other electronic things. Also I'd "upgrade" from the standard bulbs to some White LED's. Finally I'd install some low mcd Red LED's in the Map light buttons so when it's really dark I'll be able to find them

Only thing I use that compartment for is for holding my electronic cigs since I don't smoke inside my car but thats all the room I see it being able to hold don't make me laugh about holding sun glasses lol.

Lol I've never though about putting my ecigs in there. Then again with the bass they'd probably rattle around and (removed) me off.

Thanks for figuring this out! I'm taking the headliner down, and I couldn't figure it out.

Actually they hold in there pretty good even with my base at max and up really high I don't hear any rattling just put them in sideways and they kind of sit there pretty good I buy the disposible Ecigs so they are larger.

Trust me in my ride they rattle pretty bad up there. When my system is playing full tilt the words on the buttons become blurry, lol.
