Small car accident. Cop said not my fault. I was turning into the supermarket, the other kid hit me. He just had a similar accident a month ago in the same town!Driver rear door won't close, thus the door open light is on constantly. What do I do? Will it drain the battery?I already shut off the interior lights, now I need to put plastic bags and tape to cover the top of the window since it's raining tonight, and I'll need to tie the door closed with rope or something. My Girlfriends needs to go to work tomorrow and I'm concerned about the battery.EDIT: So I found I should pull out the fuse. The one marked DOOR int he manual says "power door locks, liftglass lock" but doesn't say anything about light.
Well here's what happened.I pulled the fuse out.The kid admitted fault. He had almost the same accident a month earlier in the same town! He even told the cop he didn't know where the police station was that he needed to pick up the other report. The cop said right in front of the kid (to me) "You hear me saying this is not your fault, right?".So, turns out my Girlfriends insurance is Progressive and so was his. We both filed claims. My rep says it sounds like I am not at fault. His rep says it sounds like I am not at fault. He has coverage up to $5000.I let my Girlfriend drive to work the next day, but the day after that I drove her in. I had to take the car to the auto body shop already! Man they work fast.Progressive has been really helpful. They said his insurance will cover it all. They have a desk right in the dealer which is near my work. I dropped it off there, they looked at it. I was honest with them. I said the front hood was a deer my Girlfriend hit. The front driver side panel has a small dent in it not related either.I also mentioned the check engine light is on due to what I think is a Toyota/Pontiac recall. I did my research online and Pontiac won't look at it without collecting $120 from me. They say if I want it fixed under recall I have to wait for an official letter. Even though I did my research online and it says the part should be replaced. My Progressive guy said he'll get that looked at too! Very nice of him.So, in total.. they're replacing 2 doors, which they already have, leaving some of the bottom of car (under doors).. that's only plastic and has some scratches. The metal beam that goes between the two doors was dented they'll fix. He is also giving us a check for $350 to cover "appearance" because the color matching of the speckles in the paint won't totally look the same. He gave us a mid-size rental car for the week too and I should have it back Friday the 11th.I couldn't be happier with the two times I had to deal with Progressive and their rate was cheapest I could find in New Jersey for my Girlfriend (and me).
Glad to hear you had a good experience with Progressive! Since they insured both of you, I guess they didn't have a choice. My friend here in Indiana was just hit at an intersection by a kid running a red light. The kid's insurance is Progressive, and they refuse to pay anything. My friend's insurance company is going to have to sue to collect.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
You could tape down the little black thingy on the inside of the door panel.. When the door is closed it pushes it in. So i guess you could tape it, and you can trick it!
