Quickly spray washede the vibe. Checked tire pressure and filled one. Then I was early to work so I started putting on some of the grafxwerks I got yesterday. Got the steering wheel one and the door lock ones on. I've got two left for the exterior ill have to pull it into the garage and warm it up and get those on. Also got my leds in the mail finally so hopefully a can work on that next week. Just hope they're bright enough... *edit just realized my girls neon is overdue for an oil change. Looks like she gets to drive the vibe to work so I can get that done and sadly do nothing to the vibe yet

I drove 8 hours (in 4-hours bits) in the Vibe down from my house to Oelwein, IA in just two days. Driving down was bad. The drivers side of the Vibe was horribly dirty, and I used so much wind shield washer fluid just on the way down, it's ridiculous! But the Vibe soldiered on! Just me and my 21 year old sister going down, and on the way up I had my dad, step-mom, and 18 year old sister, plus luggage. 33.8mpg down and up.Needless to say, Vib is getting a wash this week.

Installed Hella Supertones. On my way in I 'beep-beeped' my wife who was on the deck. The echo between the buildings audible inside the Vibe caused me to quiver a little with pure glee. Install needs a little clean up (wire loom etc.), but pix will be up in my garage soon.

It's not what I did to my Vibe today BUT what I got to help me modify if in the future The THREE book service manual set Yipppeeeeee These are a repair man's dream Or in my case a "mod man's" dream With the info in these books you can literally tear the car completely apart and hopefully put it all back together and not have any extra parts laying around. These will definitely come in handy today and in the years to come Thanks to the GenVibers who mentioned where to get these service manuals

Pulled the driver's side CV axle out, that isn't causing the noise in my car so I put it back. Replaced the PCV valve and the VVT oil control valve filter.

Spraying silicone on the doors' weatherstripping also reduces road noise.

I've been doing this for a few years, but to prevent the doors from freezing shut in the winter. Just a rag, silicone spray and getting both the strip on the door, and on the car when the door is open – making sure not to forget the very bottom (winter car wash water loves to hide down there and freeze!)My guess would be, the more supple the rubber on rubber contact, the tighter of a seal it makes. Thus, a slight drop in road noise. Now I have two beneficial reasons to keep this habit up!

If not this month, definitely give it a shot when temps warm up and in October/early Nov, before temps consistently get below the 50s. Or take a hair dryer to the rubber to get it warm. Might improve the rubber's acceptance of the silicone a bit more.It improves your chances of getting in the car, especially if you do not have a garage. I am lucky to have one, but I still do this to keep all things rubber supple and from drying/cracking too early.Plus, I'm a fiend about the touchless wash in the winter. You know, salt. Cheap, easy, quick.

When the weather gets about ten degrees warmer here, I'll invest in some silicone.I too do the touchless washes all winter (I am a member of the Delta Sonic unlimited washes club) but I'm so (removed) that after I get out of the car wash, I grab my roll of shop towels from the back, open up the car and dry off all of the doorjambs and hatch by hand (lots of soap stays trapped in there otherwise, eww) as well as wipe off the crud that's on the inside of the car (aside from the floormats). This is why Chris bought me some waterproof gloves for Christmas!

killed my cargo cover. it was the gray style and at night, it would reflect the HCM brake light a little too much. i bought some vinyl and fabric paint (flat black) and figured it would dull it up a bit. well, it stiffened the fabric to the point of it being almost unfold-able. it didn't "clog the pores" if you will; light could still penetrate the screen and whatnot. the only difference i really saw was the color change. but alas, i killed the cover once i finally got it to take its storage folded shape. i figured it just needed to be broken in. now its all wonky and wont take the functional shape at all, nor will it go back to its storage shape. its dead. may it rest in peace.it's last words were, "Kelly never treated me so bad!!"

Exciting stuff. Started the day with new harbor frieght breaker bar and torque wrench. Installed progress rear sway bar torqued to spec with red loc tite. Now that I finally have a torque wrench I torqued all the wheels. Silicone for all the door seals. And got my short honda antenna on after a wait for the mail truck. And lastly checked all fluids to be ready for my overnight chicago road trip. Can't wait, that's only a couple days off

I took my '03 Vibe GT into Advance Auto Parts to get a check engine code read-out. It gave me code P0340, which I guess has something to do with the camshaft position sensor.I haven't noticed any weird symptoms but I've only had the car for a few days. The part that the guy suggested was about $130. I didn't order it because the dealer I bought it from said that he gets wholesale discounts on parts. I'll just take the car to him and see what needs to be done.Is it safe to drive with this problem? I don't want to ruin anything by continuing to drive it excessively over the remainder of the week. Luckily my spring break is coming up next week so it'll be a good time to get some work done. I'm going to try to get a new head unit and hook up my subwoofer as well. A detailing is also in order. It should be a good week for the Vibe!

This is a minor problem even with NO cargo cover when installing my custom LED 3rd HCM brake light. The GT's spoiler is like a mirror (non GT Vibe's likely will not have this problem) and reflects the red lighting down on the glass. Definitely noticeable over the stock HCM brake light. A coating of flat black paint on the underside should take care of this for those out there who it really annoys

I found an old Radioshack CB radio in my basement. I promptly installed it. I hid away the antenna wire very well, and thanks to the center console 12v power outlet, the only visible wire is the antenna one going into the center console. While driving my sisters boyfriend to my house he was singing 'Afternoon Delight' over it. It isn't too good of one, but it helps give me the motivation to possibly move forward with the idea...I also got SKYWARN certified the other day, so a HAM radio will make it's way into the Vibe eventually.

epcIII, thanks for the suggestion. I may wait until I talk to the dealer about it before I decide if I want to tackle the problem on my own. I also feel bad for starting so many threads. It's been a very helpful community, though!Today I ordered my stereo equipment. I've got my old amp and sub in the back but I haven't been able to hook it up. I should be able to by the beginning of next week!I ended up with a Kenwood KIV-700, the wiring harness and dash kit, a wiring kit for my ZX750.1, and a Street Glow ANMI2 Music Interface. Thanks to the Amazon Prime, all of the stereo gear should be delivered tomorrow. The antenna adapter won't be delivered until next week, unfortunately. It's going to be tough waiting for one small piece just to be able to complete the installation. These aren't maintenance related but fun nonetheless.

Installed a set of Trico NeoForm beam blades on the car last evening to replace the cheapies the dealer put on the car before we bought it.We've had them before on both our cars, got good wear out of them (2-1/2yrs ea,) they work very well and they are quiet. Worth the extra cost, IMO.

The Vibe is sitting for the weekend, not moving. Probably not happy that it didn't get to go for another long high speed road trip. The Queen sized bed just won't fit on any trailer I have access to. Using a '98 Sierra. 345XXXkms on the 5.7 V8. 13.9L-100kms loaded up and "me" driving. Nice truck but the slushbox would be the deal breaker if I was looking for such a vehicle. And a nice 2 feet of snow in Red Deer!

Last week bought 4 new tires, Dunlop Duranza, much quieter ride.Today finally got my system installed! Adding to my Alpine unit the following:Hertz Comps, Arc 4 channel amp, Alpine pdx mono amp, Soundstream Exact 10 Old Skool sub, Khaotik enclosure, custom tweeter pods installed in factory monsoon location.Door deadening finished by installers (they had a garage and I was sick of waiting for the rain to stop). Approx 27 sq. ft of Damplifier Pro in the two front doors. Sublimewind, you would be proud They were impressed by the Damp Pro, couldn't stop raving about how thick/quality it was yet flexible, I think they may look into it further, they had been Dynamat Extreme all the way before today I also now have bluetooth through my HU Pics to be posted in garage tomorrow
