...that if you accidentally leave the keys in the ignition and try to lock the doors while getting out (door open), that it won't let you. Though that was pretty cool. Now if they would only invent something that won't let you lock the car if you leave the keys on the seat.

Of all of Toyota's nanny systems, I think that one is actually pretty neat. I have a Viper auto-start and security system though, so some of the nanny-ing won't work, but at least I have security! Plus it has the friendly 'chirp' when I lock it.
Is it just me, or can you also not lock the doors unless all the doors are closed first? I hate this because I get out of the car, and the passengers arent fully out yet, and i cant lock it until all their doors are closed.

Toyota vehicles have had little helpful lock features like this for awhile. Love 'em. Heck, even the little Chevy Nova/Toyota Corolla I drove in high school and college (with no power locks) made you lift the outside handle the whole time you were closing the front two doors to keep them locked. If you tried to close the door after pushing down the lock on the inside and you DIDN'T keep the handle lifted, the door lock would pop up once the door closed, preventing a lot of "OOPS" and coat-hanger moments...

You can hit the lock button, but it won't actually lock the doors until they are closed. Then closed doors lock, but the open door only locks once shut.

You know that was the ONE thing that bugged me about my 09 that the controls for locking and what not was on the actual KEY! Since I work nights/midnights and in the colder weather I like to start my car about 5 to 10 minutes before I leave work I would turn on my car and lock the doors with the remote I can't do that with my vibe . I think the only way I can do it is if I get a starter installed *sighs* and if I go that far I might as well get heated seats....no money though /cry
