Length of power cable for amp in the back?

I was just wondering if a 17' cable would be able to be run from the battery, down the battery side of the car (discreetly) and to amps installed on top of a subwoofer box in the back of the Vibe.It's an '06, btw.

17 inches worked for both amps I have in the back of mine. Ran them through the hole in the fire wall just above the brake. Then down the drivers side coming out where the latch is for the rear drivers seat and still have about a foot of cable left. Both wires are 8 gauge.
