FWD '09 2.4L Manual told: "don't need to rotate tires on your FWD"

Post by slmclarengt »

The auto shop my girlfriend went to for her oil change on the vibe told her they did not rotate the tires because it is a FWD. I'm unsure what their reasoning was, whether because of her gender or they saw the tread evenly worn or they believe it is better to replace 2 tires at a time than 4... Is this a normal practice and/or is it correct? Her last LOFR was late last year by the dealer.

I have never heard of this in my life. My husband and I both have FWD cars and we have always gotten tire rotations.

Per the manual: front to back and back to front (no diagonal and no side to side) every 5,000 miles

Time to find a different repair shop that is more reliable with correct information

Thanks for the info - I've advised her to 'kindly' demand the repair shop rotate the tires. It must truly be due to gender, because I don't think they could pull the wool over most men's eyes. [Not all women are bad with vehicles, many probably better than me, but you know the stereotype and in this case it held true :]
