LED action

Post by DressedInBlack »

installed 4 of these (16 led board) last night. got the cool white ones; one for each map light, one for the overhead [dome] and one for the cargo. they are super bright, easy as pie to install, and give off a great spread of light. worth the money for me. they fade in and out as well just like the old standard bulbs.

I've got it under control. Already been to your thread, too! I got some Silverstar headlamps. Much better than what I had! They are a Phillips of some type. They are under my load floor with the donut tire in case of catastrophic headlight bulb failure! Next: Fogs. Also just ordered some LED interior lights and license plate lights.

REALLY?!? Where can I get the rebate form? Yes, I've got Silverstars all around! Oddly enough my headlights were some Phillips bulb, and fogs were some odd Sylvania fog bulb. They weren't the blue hue like the Silverstars were though. I also got a new radio deck installed! Pics will be in my garage later today.

These smaller bulbs are only $9.99 a pair at Auto Zone (no rebates for them). I have a few pictures of the reverse lights and the license marker in my garage if you care to see what they look like when lit.

I just hope I will be able to get them wired up properly without screwing anything up .On a bit of a side note, I called today and made an appointment to get the windows tinted 35% all around on my mom's Vibe two weeks from today! I also sprayed both Vibes off at the car wash, checked the tire pressure and re-filled the windshield washer fluid. I am so sick of my poor Vibe being covered in sand and my mom's being covered in salt . I can't wait for the warmer weather to return so I can give them both a proper washing, waxing and clay barring.

Plug in (I'll have a socket to fit the plug on the new assembly) and then you're good to go It will be that simple What this "redye" your hair thing Your red, pink. purple, fuchsia, whatever color,. Ok it wasn't today, but yesterday we installed the cargo nets I purchased here on the forums and also put the cargo tie down pack in one of the cargo nets. Not sure when I will use the tie down, but it is there. Also not today but hopefully tomorrow, install of a clarion CX609. I will report back how that goes...

Washed the salt off and became disappointed when I saw all the things that I've been meaning to do to it but haven't. At some point this spring, it gets a complete detailing and some paint on those rusted out steelies.

Yesterday I repalced the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets. Had been having a slightly rough idle, and the maifold gasket really made a difference. Idle was awul, kept throwing P0171's at me. Road trip last night, had to keep foot ont he throttle at red lights . Wasn't until today I got a chance to look at it again, and idle is now what it should be, Amazing what hooking up ALL of the hoses can do for engine performance

New LED interior and license plate lights! The interior so much brighter now, it is ridiculous, and the plate is well-illuminated. And not known to me, my plate lights were out anyways, so it was good I got those LEDs. I also finally got the right wire cut to kill DRLs. I'll get the switch to the right wire soon!

Horn upgrade!

Post by ehoff121 »

Did a "plug and play" replacement of the stock horn (Toyota Denso #86520-01050) with the low note horn from a Toyota Camry (Toyota Denso #86520-AA010). Literally, a 5 minute job.

Ehoff, forgive my ignorance... just how plug and play are we talking? Is the end of our OEM horn's wires simply "plugged" in somewhere? Did you have to re-secure the Camry horn in a new fashion? I.Am.Doing.This!

There were five steps:1. Unbolt horn (12mm socket)2. Squeeze connector and wiggle out to disconnect stock horn3. Plug connector into new horn4. Re-bolt horn5. Push horn button on steering wheel and smile pretty as you hear a big improvement I had found that those with 04-07 Highlanders were upgrading with the same horn and the horn relay is 10 amps for all three vehicles.

No offense intended, but $47 (shipped) for a horn is insane! You could buy two Highway Blasters, tax in, for that. Or for about $10 more, a set of Hellas from an online seller.

Or simply go down to your local parts store and ask for a 132db, low tone (or high tone if you prefer) Highway Blaster. A pair (Hi & Lo) will run you just around $40 including any sales tax. Most store carry them in stock these days.

Just some $5 ones I got off ebay. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.....m283The Silverstar Ultras are just barely better then the regular Silverstars. Not really worth it in my opinion for just 500k of more light. My DRL switch works!! It has been fixed, and I am happy. Next mod: Dymo label for the switch!

New horn!!! Wooo! Finally free from the old, wimpy thing. It now sounds like a real car!! Eventually a Hella set might come, but in the meantime, the Wolo one is fine. But today, during the snowstorm I threw a snowball at Vib, since the snow was perfect and she was in the garage.

Busy weekend for the Vibe and I! Installed a new passenger side strut/strut boot/strut mount ( gonna do the other side when i have time). Bought and installed a dash cover. Cleaned the MAF sensor. Replaced the passenger side wheel well cover + push pins cause the push pins were gone, and the cover rubbed against the tire and got destroyed. Replaced the cabin air filter and added an air freshener. Finally, got and programmed a new key fob and key cause i only had one set!

Didn't do anything *to* my Vibe, unless you count taking 3.5 hours to drive what should take just under 2 hours in a horrific blizzard from Menomonee Falls to Green Bay as doing something to my car Had a couple close calls, but overall handled it like a champ. Word to the wise, don't try to pass a semi trailer on the left when there is 4 inches of snow in the left lane. Thanks Stabilitrak!
