I recently acquired an '05 base Vibe so I'm not sure if it has a lamp out or what. Do the dash lighting controls and remote mirror control switch have backlighting?. If that section doesn't have a lamp, it should have been designed with one because it's a dark corner there at night.
On my 09 the mirror buttons do not light up, so its probably the same for the first generation; my dash lighting control is built in with the TRIP A/B reset so mine can't be lit. I do agree, they need to back light a BUNCH of lights in the car, especially ALL of the window buttons and lock/unlock buttons. Sunroof controls would be nice to be lighted too.

Distracted and rarely used... I don't buy that one. Because of no lighting, I'll have to memorize what controls are there and then after that, feel around because I'll be too busy driving the car to just glance down and see what's there.

I totally agree on this one. Most all other cars I've owned had ALL the buttons softly illuminated so you could find them in the dark. It offers NO distractions at all but only convenience in the event you want to roll down a window other than the drivers side (BTW.. is th ONLY buttom illuminated). I plan on installing a very dim white LED in the door panel to shine down onto the master controls. I may do the same on the passenger side to keep things symetrical The sunroof controls & dome light buttons also need some type of illumination
