I noticed we are up to 16 members now, but not many have actually posted! So I thought maybe we needed a thread where new members could say hi, tell us about your ride or whatever.Although I have posted a few times now, I'll play along with my own topic! My name is John, and I am an aspiring Vibe owner... I don't own one yet and may not buy one right away, but I do plan on buying a new vehicle in the near future and I think the Vibe is at the top of my list! It would replace my 97 Ford Probe, which I really enjoy except it has been a lemon since the day I drove it off of Ford's lot. I am getting tired of the repairs and downtime, and have decided I would like some other qualities in a vehicle than it offers. I also have an 88 Fiero Formula which is my weekend toy and auto hobby. Thanks all! Peace!
I'm Mike. I wanted to create GenVibe because I think the Vibe is one of the coolest cars to come out of GM in a long while. I don't have the budget to add one to my personal fleet right now but I hope to get into one in the future. It looks like a great car to customize and tune. You will notice GenVibe is part of a whole group of automotive sites that you will find at the bottom of the page in the footer. We are all crazy about cars around here!- Mike
I am sure I won't be the last to say thanks for this forum dedicated to the Vibe! It is definately one of the coolest cars to show up on a GM lot in years! Even if its not 100% GM. Keep up the nice work!
I'm Antony, owner of a 2000 Toyota Celica GT. I live in Boston, MA for most of the year. I came to this site with interest in the Vibe/Matrix, particularly because of their use of the Toyota ZZ-series, as used on the Celica. There's a lot of hype in the Celica crowd about the alleged release of a TRD supercharger for the 1ZZ-FE engine, so you'll probably notice a lot of us wandering over here to keep up to date on it. The Matrix and Vibe are the first crossover vehicles that I really do like the look of.

TTTThought with all the new members recently maybe they would see this thread if I brought it back up and be encouraged to post! (hint hint wink wink!!)
Hey! I am not very patiently waiting for a White Base engine 5 spd with a power pack and a safety pack (Canadian). I have had my share of sporty machines so I am shying away from the GT model as I am looking for economy and practicality this time around. I first started looking at the Subaru Impreza but was literally chased off by a local dealer that was insulted that I should try to negotiate a price based on market value. (long story that I will save for Edmunds.com perhaps). When I take delivery in July I plan to take my Vibe (and my mrs.) to British Columbia for a holiday so it will get about 4000 miles in the first 4 weeks of life! The tour guide at the nummi plant, SRogers@nummi.com wants pictures of where their vibes end up. and I plan to send off some neat Photos from my trip. Thanks, Ken.

I guess I should introduce myself, I've been around a month or so and never realy done so yet. My name is Dave and I'm the service manager at a Pontiac dealer in Ohio. We also have Chevrolet franchise and I have always been impressed with the quality of them. In our area they are not popular and veiwed as a import. (Imports carry a stigma in this part of world). I formerly had an S-10 x-treme, It was great for hauling race car tires and parts but the regular cab was cramped. I seen pictures of the prototype for the car show and fell in love. I figure I can still haul parts and tires but still have some interior room for passengers. I anticipate this car to a lot of fun much like my turbo sunbird I used to have. My GT is due in about two weeks.
hi im Greg and live in Meridian, MS. im on a 3rd day as a Abyss Vibe GT owner and really impressed so far. i got the power package with the 17" wheels/tires. so i far i think im the only one in my small town to have one. i get alot of stares and paises for the car. actually this is the first 4 door car ive owned and with having a 4 yr old son its really nice.soon ill be tinting the windows, changing the stock cd player, and getting wind deflector and the climate thingie's for the windows, cant wait! but i got the buy the tag first LOLGreg
Hello, I purchased a silver Vibe in mid-March. It's the base model with a manual transmission. Other options: moons & tunes, power, ABS, side-impact airbags, security system, 16" aluminum wheels, 6 disc changer. I also recently added the rear cargo mat which I highly recommend.I'm not much into the modification aspect of car ownership, but I'm thinking about tinting the windows. I'm a little hestant to do this since you can't tint the driver's/front passenger side windows in the state of VA, therefore I'm afraid it will look like a minivan.
Hey what's up. Brad here from Detroit area, Michigan. The girlfriend and I are into the Vibe (lol) and looking for one possibly next year some time. Until then, I'll probably stick around and bother you untill then.Right now I have a 2000 ford Focus with a few mods: 16x6.5" TSW Trophies, Focus Sport C.A.Intake, Diablo Sport Chip, AFX Underdrive Pulley, Eibach 2" Sportline drop with Pro-Dampers... and a little bit for looks here and there.
Yeah, my name is Andrea and I get to be the girlfriend djvash was refering to. I'm waiting for my Saturn lease to be up in order to get a Vibe. We checked out some the other day and figured we could do a few things to make ours unique. Please message me on AIM if you want to chat, I love getting messages!
Wow, satarting to get new members! Welcome to the forum all! Glad to see you! Hope you enjoy and keep coming back. Also hope you love your new Vibe's! Thanks for sharing!!
Hello all you Vibe fans. I've owned my GT for almost a month now and have to agree with everyone here. This little car has a lot of potiential. I live in the Houston area and so far seem to be the only Vibe on the road right now. I know that will change soon.

I've had my vibe since march 12th and have racked up 10000 trouble free miles already(i commute to chicago every day). I have a lava gt with the 17'' rims, power package, and in dash six disc changer. I can't wait to bolt on a supercharger and exhaust and suprise some mustang and camaro owners. I've wooped just about every honda/acura i've come across.....except for an rsx-type s.
2003 Lava Vibe GT.17''wheel package, 6spd, no sunroof.......oh well
I just noticed this topic so I thought I might as well join the crowd! I'm Cristen from Ottawa Canada. I love the Vibe! When my lease is up on my 2000 Cavalier in October I plan on getting a Vibe base model with all the extras (I'd get the GT but can't drive a stick). I went to the Toronto Auto show for the sole purpose of seeing the Vibe in person and I loved it! It was so comfortable to sit in! Can't wait to get mine! Although these long waiting lists I'm reading about I don't like.

If you want a GT with a auto the Toyota Matrix XRS is the same car as a Pontiac Vibe GT but comes with a optional auto trany. The waiting list on a Matrix is much shorter also.
Hmm... I like the look of the Vibe better. I don't like the long waiting list though... I should go order mine now so it will be in when my lease is up in 4 months!

Hi, I'm Richard from London,Ontario. I should be getting my Vibe in a few weeks. It's replacing my 1990 Civic hatchback(one of the greatest cars ever built) which could fit almost anything in the back, that I had to get another hatchback style. I hope my Vibe is as reliable.I work with a lot of automotive suppliers so I've been seeing bits and pieces of the Vibe and Matrix for over a year.
Hi! My name is Nick from Austintown, OH. I don't have a Vibe as of yet, but I plan on ordering one (if not on the lot) in about a month or so. I like seeing sites specially geared towards particular vehicles and from what I can see, we already have a great group of people here that either have their Vibe or desparately wanting one. I hope to see the continued growth of this site, board, and vehicle!-Nick

Hey, I'm Cecily. I'm a transplanted American living in Vancouver. My DH (darling hubby) is Rik, who lurks here but says he's really not the "message board type"...whatever that means. We're a part of that weird group of people who doesn't own a car. Hubby walks to work and I've only just been cleared to work in Canada, so we haven't really needed wheels. We rent whenever we need to get around or want to go on road trips, but the inconsistency of never knowing what you'll get from the rental agency is starting to wear on both of us. Plus, I hope to work over the border in Washington State, and we'll definitely need a car for that to happen. As you can see from my signature, we're currently cross-shopping the Vibe and the Matrix. Our first choice would have been the Honda CR-V EX, but it's a bit more car than we can handle right now. Ideally I'd own a VW Beetle, but DH wants something with a bit more utility. I'm a bit older than the Vibe/Matrix target demographic, and so is hubby... however, if I remember correctly, Toyota also thought that young people would flock to the Echo and it's proven to be more popular with middle-aged women. Just goes to show you that marketers don't know everything. Hopefully we'll have a new car within the next 3-6 months. Until then, I'll keep popping in here now and again to say hi and to see what's going on.
Twistylocs One more year of graduate school to go, then it's HELLO VIBE!
Howdy! Names Nigel and I'm located in Regina, SK. Home of the, uh, well, there's lots of flat... stuff. I have a Vibe GT (Salso, monotone, sunroof) on order (for a good while now, trying to be patient!) and since I sold my car a few weeks ago, becoming reacquainted with the public transport system. Not a bad thing actually....I hope I will enjoy it as much as the others that already have theirs...Cheers!
Hi all, my name is Brian and I'm a Pontiac enthusiast originally from Detroit. Just joined the forum yesterday, as it was only about three days ago that my wife and I realized we really, REALLY need to get a new car -- enough taking our old clunker to the shop every week to fix the latest mechanical failure!A bit about me...I'm 22, a web designer living in southwest Florida, and a card-carrying muscle car fanatic. There have been Trans Ams in my history since the day I was born (long story) and I currently own a black '98 Trans Am WS6 with 6-speed, Borla cat-back exhaust and silver stripes & badging.Currently I'm in the process of hunting for a Vibe Base (either in Shadow, Abyss or Satellite) with automatic (wife can't drive a stick), power group, moon roof...and if I may be so lucky...the monotone paint treatment. Have already had one run-in with an irritating salesman locally...jeez, all of our local dealers suck...and am now checking the outlying 200 miles for the perfect Vibe. The search continues!Nice to meet all of you and I hope to stick around for a while -- already I've learned a ton!-B.J.
Hi all. My name is Casey and being on here is somewhat weird for me. I've always been associated with VW and Audi sites and nothing else. I followed the link over here from the VWVortex site. I must say, I really like this site and I am always interested in learning more about other makes and models of cars. I can't wait to learn more about the Vibe.
Courtney Minion (yank dini) To keep from guess or assuming I am a guy. I live 10 min from The GM Mecca (Ren-Cen) I didn't expect the get this car. I wrecked my 2000 Dodge Stratus the Wed. before Memorial Day. 40 mph head on collision(no seatbelt-smart huh?) A totaled vehicle of course. I want to keep the same or lower monthly payment on my next car. So when I saw the VIBE I wanted it. All that car for $17,100 WOW!!! After dealing with the headaches from insurance claim I finally bought my VIBE on 6-7-2002 I'll post a picture in a few weeks after I do a little more mods to the the car. Hope we can all help each other out on various topics and ideas for this car. Check me out in the registry
Hi all! My name is Tracey I live in Lockport, Ny and have been a Vibe owner for about a month now. I abslotuely love it. It took some getting used to driving a stick again. I have the Shadow gt...course you can probably tell that by my name. I didn't get the monotone package, couldn't see spending the extra 500 bucks. 'Course when I ordered it in march it wasn't available. I got the moon & tunes and am planning to upgrade the rims as soon as I wear out these tires (husband says so) I got the windows tinted 5% in the back and 50% up front. I'm loving it...I love everything about it except I am totally emabarassed by the horn!!! I refuse to use it. I'm convinced that people can't hear it outside of the car! Just ordered a new MUCH louder one and a pedal cover kit.

My name is Anthony and I live in Dayton, OH. I just picked up my mono shadow GT last night and I'm loving it. Test-drove various cars like the Jetta, GTi, Focus SVT, Alero GL, Civic Si but ended up with the Vibe, which had the best balance out of the group with style, space and speed. The dealer had to get mine thru a trade but I ended up with exactly what I wanted and only waited about a week. I love the versatility of this car and every time I get in it I find a new storage place, I'm gonna need to make a map so I remember where they are all located. I know I will enjoy driving this car for a long time and I highly recommend this vehicle to any one that wants a little bit of everything in a car without breaking the bank.

Richard, When did you order your Vibe? Totally agree with you on the Civic, I switched from Honda after great success with a 86 CRX, 90 Integra and 92 Civic Sedan. Got tired of waiting for Honda to bring back an updated version of the 91 Civic Wagon.

Hello all! My name is Lori and I have been lurking these hallowed halls for almost 3 weeks. I got my Vibe on June 28. I really like it so much more than the 2000 Grand AM I turned in. I might get flamed for this but I guess I don't see the Vibe they way alot of you do. I see it as a sporty little station wagon for Moms to putt-putt around town in running errands and car pooling.( You can tell I am one of the older members of this site! ) But if I were in my 20's, single and no kids I would have still bought it, 'coz it's so cute and has a ton of room for stuff.Just my honest opinion!
Hi all... we're new to the site as of about an hour ago. We have had our Neptune Vibe for 6 days. We love the Moon & Tunes Package and power package. We stumbled onto this site looking for accessories. And we stumbled onto our Vibe looking for a minivan or Explorer. Two weeks ago we didn't even know Vibe existed, I asked my brother and he said, they were giving them away on Survivor... Anyway, we love our Vibe and we haven't seen another one on the streets yet and we're from the big city of Milwaukee . We think there should be a get together of Vibe owners, does anyone know of anything like this?
Neptune, rocking to the beat and catching sun rays with the moon & tunes package... WE LOVE OUR VIBE! We've yet to see another one on the road...
quote:Two weeks ago we didn't even know Vibe existed, I asked my brother and he said, they were giving them away on Survivor.Actually, Survivor never gave away a Vibe. They gave away an Aztek in the original Survivor and Survivor #2 (Austrailian Outback), a Chevy Avalanche in Survivor #3 (Africa) and a Saturn VUE in Survivor #4 (Marquesas). Your brother got the VUE and the Vibe mixed up. Both are new cars but the VUE is more of a mini-SUV and slightly larger than the Vibe. Maybe they will give away a Vibe in the next Survivor - Thailand.

It's a very easy mistake to make since they are both new cars and very similar looking. Not a big deal.Actually, yes, my wife and I do like the Survivor series. I know it's just a game and not real survival but you do have to survive the game. About the only other reality game shows we like are "The Amazing Race" and "Combat Missions" (on the USA Network). Interesting stuff. The Osbornes are great too.Sorry, off subject. Now back to your regularly scheduled Vibe posts already in progress.

Hi, my name is Matt and I live in the Seattle, WA. I am 17 and my parents recently bought a Monotone black AWD Vibe with Moons and Tunes, Power, Security, Side Airbags, and a few other things. I paid around $16,500, although the car retailed at $22, 600. I got the car June 6th, i waited about 1 1/2 months, and so far I have about 2,300 miles on it. I have taken it into the service department once for a sqeaky, extremely annoying front dash (area around the odometer). They fixed it, but it still sqeaks every once in a while. I really like this website and everyone on it seems to be thrilled about the vibe. I am glad to see there are other people out there who love the vibe. In my hometown, the dealers are having a hard time selling them (they have had the same two vibes, lava and abyss, on their lots for 6 months). I was afraid I had bought another Aztek. But thanks to this site and the people here, my faith has been RESTORED!!! Nice meeting everyone.
Our Vibe also has a squeaky sound from around the same area, we're wondering if it ws just us, what was the sound and did it take long to get it fixed?
Neptune, rocking to the beat and catching sun rays with the moon & tunes package... WE LOVE OUR VIBE! We've yet to see another one on the road...
HI, Im jason and I have a Vibe GT w/moons and tunes, power package, and security system. I live in Rochester NY and love to drive my vibe around town. I cant wait to modify my car, I just need to get all these weddings out of the way. Then the fun can begin!!!!
Hello there, i've been a member for about a month, but i never posted anything in this thread.I've got a base Abyss with the power package and the moons and tunes package. I've put red interior lights in it (looks pretty neat), and xenon lights (both headlights and foglights).I bought a full set of stickers from Grafverkx, reflective black, looks nice. Especially the Pontiac arrow. detailsLet's see, what else have i done to it? I replaced the wimpy factory horn with a new set from Griots. I'm really happy with them. detailsI also hardwired my Valentine One so that i dont have that annoying power cable running across my windshield.details20% tint all around, looks schweet.I guess thats about it.I'm probably the only guy from Sweden that owns a Vibe .I'm really happy with my car, it rides nice and you can get more stuff in the back than it looks like you can. I was plesantly surprised when i realized how much you can fit back there.
