^ Title says it all. I noticed it today when I was at the car wash. I guess it happened at school. Of course no note, and the school doesn't have cameras, at least not in the lot I park in. Anyway, You can see where the bumper "flexed".. I can't really describe it anymore than that. Its not really dented in, but you can see where it did bend to and back out because the paint is cracked. Around the license plate the paint is cracked pretty bad on both sides. I REALLY don't want to have the paint flaking off. Is there anything I can do to keep the paint from flaking off and just keep it the way it is. Insurance is a no go.. I have a $1000.00 deductible. Its the rear bumper!
That really sucks--sorry to hear that!I've had that happen three times, with only one person leaving a note and contact info.Don't know about your paint question...
Without pics it didn't happen! No really sorry to hear that. In college I had a Mercury Tracer (think of a ford escort, same thing). Anyway that thing was a magnet for door dings and what nots. We bought it new in 1992, and in two years time there were more dings on that car then I care to remember. Ok no paint falling off, guess I lucked out there.
I would wait as long as you can stand it, then have the bumper cover repainted.Unfortunately, cars won't stay perfect. Someone else is bound to scratch, nick, bump, or otherwise injure the paint.
Yeah, I don't care as long as the paint is not chipping off in big chunks. I can't stand to see cars with the whole top of the cars paint missing. Surprisingly, after 2 years of college I've got very very few blemishes from school. No door dings as of now, knock on wood!
Door dings are why I love the first generations door guards. OF course, they don't work why the door is above them, and the (expletive) who gave you two of them makes it obvious. Both on my driver side are at the same height, one right in the middle of my door, and the next on my freaking FENDER. Needless to say, I don't park near that Explorer anymore. Although I do think I got rear-ended while parked... My rear bumper doesn't fit right, but when we bought it, the rear bumper wasn't quite right either. I just never looked at it. Eventually I want to remove it, and see what is up with it. Oh the "joys" of school parking...
Sorry to hear that Ethan .This is why my mom and I always park in end spots. That way you only have a car on one side of you and you can typically park over further away from that one car .
