I was driving in a traffic jam on the interstate due to snow and needless to say i got pissed and punched the roof. i didn't realize till later that i had knocked the inside sunroof slider cover off track. i had my father help me try and fix it he got it back closed but now its seized shut. If anybody could give me some feedback on how to fix this probelm? Or where i can go besides a dealer to fix this because i know the dealer will kill me with their price. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Thank You, Ryan

And you're how old with anger control issues over some traffic???First off welcome to the site, I appreciate and am slightly bothered by your brutal honesty about what you did!!You've knocked it off of its track or maybe cracked the plastic. It is designed to slide with only the roof closed. It isn't high tech and comes off easy after removal of the headliner by simply removing the two sunroof shade stops. I'd take a closer and a patient look up in there and see where it is still off it's track or broken. Worse case scenario is that the headliner has to be dropped down to access the assembly to make proper repairs.Needless to say I've never seen or had to repair a sunroof shade that's been punched before!!My best guess is you've cracked the plastic where is slides in the aluminum track. You've managed to get the front half or the back half into the track and the reminder is still up above the track so it's very hard to slide. Force (I never suggest forcing something but there are always exceptions) the sun cover back about half way. Now open the roof panel enough to stick your head out and look towards the back of the car below the glass and above the plastic. The problem should become painfully obvious with this simple sighting. The entire panel should be inside the aluminum guide, not below or above it at any point.Count yourself lucky you didn't hit hard enough to break the glass panel.Best of luck, deep breath, count to 10 s l o w l y Dave
No help on fixing, BUT!.. Maybe you should punch the seat, or maybe the roof.. but make sure its not the sunroof.. and MAKE SURE the slider is not open.. that would be BAD
Thanks for the post and the feedback. And yeah i was running through my mind how childish a move it was for a while after. I'm a college student and i live cross state from my college i had finals that day and i was stuck on the interstate doing about 5 mph for like 3 hours. it was on a stretch of interstate that usually takes me 45 mins not 3 hours. but needless to say i'm thinking i'm probably going to have to take the headliner out. and i think the sunroof slide is bent pretty good. would my sunroof itself work fine if i just took that slider out and didnt replace it? because i've looked on line for replacements and i didn't really see any vibe replacement sunroof sliders. Right now though i have bigger problems. my vibe is within the recall and my check engine light has been going crazy, one of the symptoms. so i'm hoping the best for that. love my vibe though, great car. Thanks again for the post. Ryan
The sunroof should work fine once the shade is removed provided there hasn't been any damage done to it... Once you get the headliner dropped, the screws on the stops at the rear of the track are a little tough to get out, not much clearance to work with. An S-shaped philips will be helpful. Once those are out, it just slides back off the end of the track.Back when I looked into it, the part was available but cost in the $200-something range from the dealer.

Once you get the headliner down you may need to remove the sunroof assembly to get at the screws on the stops the Colonel is referring to. It's a pretty straightforward job.
Thanks for the post and info. i'm nearly positive the sunroof itself is completely fine. i want to get that slide out now and then when i get my tax return check maybe i'll call a dealer and see how much that's going to cost me. Thanks, Ryan

Thanks, Ryan Instead of going through all of the work to remove the headliner to remove the sunshade panel, put it all back together, get a new one, take it all apart, put in the new sunshade and put it all back together.Just push, again force, back the sunshade to fully open and leave well enough alone if you can't figure out what the problem is until you have the cash to fix it in one action.Dave
