SRS Side Airbags - where do they diploy out of the seat?

Hey I have a canadian 2003 Pontiac Vibe AWD that I have owned since new. It has side SRS air bags on the 2 front seats. I wanted to confirm that they blow out of the side of the seat like our Mazda 5 or does it come out of the pillar like the 2005 vibe?I thought I would check here for someone that knows or has a video instead of pulling out of someone in traffic to see where they diploy Lol. I have asked 2 GM dealers and they both had no idea!

Where is the sticker, or tag? If its on the seat on a tag, or door, like my 09 which has a tag, then it will deploy from the seat itself. Im sure if it has one in the seat it will have a curtain, mine has SRS CURTAIN AIRBAG on the pillar at the very top. The sticker is on the side of the seat near the lever to recline the seat. It says Side SRS Airbag. Its a sticker on the plastic part. Its not like our M5 that has a tag on the seat. I'd love to see a video of it, but can't find one on youtube. Im guessing its a small little thing for your side and does not reach your head as if a side curtain would do. 4 airbags still beats my Miata that has no airbags lol.

I believe Toyota & Honda are probably identical as far as the positioning of the airbags. These two pics show where the airbag deployed out of this 2007 Honda Rigeline drivers side seat. This pretty much tells the whole story. Hope this helps

Thanks for posting the video now I know whats rattling above my head when my systems loud. But now I'm paranoid they're gonna deploy when I hit a low note lol.

Yea I know, but I've also seen them deploy for no reason. Was kinda scary.

I had no idea 2003-08 vibes had airbags inside our seat!!!! i took my driver seat out.. and put in a bucket seat lol oh well.. ill try not to crash i guess the stock seats was killing my back and I just couldnt take it anymore...

The 03-08's didn't come standard. Only 09+.. If yours DID have an airbag in the seat, and you replaced it with one without and airbag, your red airbag light would illuminate. If an airbag has detected a fault, it shuts down the system and the warning light will come on. On a side note, I LOVE how dealers know SO much about the cars they sell. I mean, come on. Its not that hard. I remember when I was looking at the Vibe, I ask the salesman if the car had AUTO lights, he said "no, or it would say AUTO on the stalk.." Sure enough, auto lights. It was a NEW car dealer, so he should have known.

In Canada all AWD models came standard with side SRS airbags. It was an option on the GT as well. Base did not come with them.go safety!
