cai install - remove bumper?

Post by drunkenmaxx »

ok i got my CAI yesterday and will attempt to install it saturday. in the instructions, it says you have to remove the bumper to install it. that doesn't seem to make sense to me or my uncle. can anyone clarify if and why if i need to remove the bumper?

You do not need to remove the bumper. You can, but it is not a neccessary. There are three scews under the bumper in front of the drivers side tire. If you remove those, you will be able to put the filter on from underneath with the battery tray removed. It will be a lot easier to do especially since you will have help. Good luck! Take pics after the install.

As Triton said, removing the bumper is nuts!Simply remove two screws and one push rivet directly under the left front fog light. Then remove the half dozen or so push rivets scattered in the wheel well of the left front wheel (it's easier to see them with a flashlight). Then the plastic cover will just fall out, and make it SO much easier to get in there!!!
