Easy question

Post by MotoAce51 »

Whats the best option for replacing the stock speakers? I want the best sound and included bass.I typically deck out my system butI just cant affored it this time. My old car had a full kicker setup Kx1200.1, 2 s12L7s in a ported box, kicker component speakers in the front, and pioneers in the rear. If the subs were off, there was no bass at all. So what are my options to get the most without installing the subs right now? Also, double din or regular stereo? I have always gone for pioneer but what else is good for the same price? Needs ipod controlls mostly.

Go single DIN, generally from setups I've installed, the double DIN's are pricier and not as well made, focusing too much on visuals rather than built-in amplification (with decent Signal/Noise) I am currently running a pioneer deck, I think it cost $250 a year ago, and it controls everything from my IPOD right on the deck. I bought a set of Diamond Coax's for the front that only set me back $180. The rear speakers are just Pioneer A's, which you can find almost everywhere for $40 a pair. The tweeters I replaced with Diamond's simple tweeter replacement, ran about $45 for a pair. Pop right into the stock bracket with no modification (if you have the M&T upgrade, otherwise you need to buy the pillar sail covers or mount them elsewhere. You can never fail with the pioneer A sets, what I did a while back, was snap the tweeter off the back two, and cut the wires to the tweeter, so they were single woofers. Worked great and sounded good. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pi...54752and for a deckhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/Ke...80525I ran that in my civic, and I freaking loved it. I'm waiting for them to update it a bit, but the menus were clean and crisp, and easy to navigate. It allowed you to equalize volumes by selecting pictures of where the speakers were (under dash, low doors, rear deck, etc). It also set up what size the car was, how big your speakers were, subwoofer size, how many subs you have (to transfer) etc... and it isn't that expensive. I got it from CarToys when it came out, but you may be able to find them anywhere now.

The best option for replacing the speakers and still getting some bass output would be to 1. Add some beefy components to the front doors that will handle some power. 2. Add a quality amplifier to power the speakers in the doors.3. Seal and deaden the doors, this will probably yield the best bang for buck results. What kind of budget are you looking to spend? If you need some good cheap amplifiers look to Sublimewinds FS thread. The Cadence pair or the Orion pair would be great economic solutions, You would also have a matching sub amp for when the time came. Solid components will set you back $200 + and the deadening would probably be $50ish. You could get into a real rocking front stage for $400-$450 without radio. With my option you would yield a real solid midbass, no matter what you do though you will still miss the sub bass as it is near impossible to yield the sub bass response from a speaker not dedicated as a sub.Double din and single din is preference based, double dins do tend to get stolen more often because of the obvious. Thieves see them easier and the lack of removable face, But I still prefer a double din radio.Radio wise Kenwood and Alpine make nice radios, but if I were in the market for a new radio it would be the Pioneer P99rs.
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

Irony strikes again. On the way to work on Friday my front left speaker blew. It was a big plastic "pop" and then it was gone. I had the volume on very low but it was cold. Money is tight so I just need something to get me through.I was in a friends Taurus and hers had some decent bass for not having a sub. Ill transfer my Kicker stuff over but not until spring when its warm.
