My Boss' Vette

Post by PHXLavaVibe »

My boss has mentioned a few times in the past about his Corvette. Most recently it has been in the shop. I talked with him briefly today in passing and he is excited because he just got it back yesterday. I am not sure what all he had done but i do know that he either had the engine replaced or rebuilt, because he was sure to mention that it now has over 600 HP. He also mentioned that it sounds really nice and even whines a little due to the Super Charger in it. I don't remember what model year this vette is (mid 90's I believe) but it looks like it just came off the line.Well, after talking about it I decided to take a stroll in our parking garage. My jaw dropped and I immediately started drooling upon my first glance. I figured some of you might appreciate pics so I am attaching a few. Sorry about the darkness/quality...but these pics were taken in a parking garage with my phone. I hope he takes me out for a joy ride some time soon!!!Oh, and just a little background on my boss...He is in his mid to late 70's and is currently an avid Formula 1 race car driver in his spare time. He races "Non-Circuit" at least once a month. Just looking at him...you would never dream he lives in the fast lane!

Nice wheels (wide rear tires), brakes, painted calipers, and brake cooling vents.

Here's a good front end shot. The Vette emblem is a 50 year anniversary.

You are correct! I just spoke with him again and he confirmed it. The reason it was in the shop was because he blew a piston ring. As he was having that replaced he decided to have the engine rebuilt all together. New rods, pistons, headers, and a bunch of other stuff. He also mentioned that it was running about 450 HP but with the Super Charger in it they ran a dyno on it by locking onto the rear wheels and was able to adjust the settings on the computer bringing him up to 600 HP. They actually dialed back the charger to help prolong the life. He said they could have gotten about 650 HP out of it but that he is more concerned about the overall life of the car and not HP.I could have taken the money he used on that engine and payed off my car and all my credit cards! It must be nice to be old and not have any financial woes.

I make it as a C5 ZO-6 w/a recent Edelbrock supercharger upgrade?I know they (Edelbrock) are making a bolt on kit for the C5 and C6 crowd. With the right prep and mods it could easily put that car in 600hp range.Ask him?
