Post by bassplayaz06 »

Make the Pontiac MORE of a true GM muscle car We're talking a small block Chevy with a nice 4-speed Muncie "close ratio" & maybe a posi rearend with 4:10 gears If I were only retired today and needed a project, I could (and WOULD) make something like this a reality

I don't think there is enough room for a V-8. Maybe a V-6? Things would quickly get cramped. And you may want to get a more reliable and tougher rear differential, maybe from a Subaru. Or if you REALLY want to mess with people, you could try my idea, and put a V-8 in a Prius shell, and convert it to RWD.

Used to be you could buy one from the factory like that http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11020seriously though, a waste of time and money. If you want a V8, go buy a car made to be a V8, something designed to handle the power.

Are you aware of the super-secret Pontiac test mule LS1 rear-wheel-drive Vibe that allegedly made an appearance at the 2006 GenVibe Super Meet in Michigan?http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=2It was a hoax, but everyone there had a great time spreading the rumor...

Interesting idea but not very plausible.

You got that right! There are LS1 powered Miatas floating around. If you have the money & time anything is possible. Personally I would love to see it becuase Im a fan sleepers. That would be pretty awesome, leave the stock wheel covers & roof rack, then terrorize the V8 cars out there. Would be pretty cool to see a Vibe lay down some rubber.Check out this LS1 Miata: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p-EvqjI1c0

I know a guy that stuffed a V-8 Small-Block into a 1989 Honda Cr-x, trust me, a smallblock will fit just fine. You may have to notch the firewall but that's it. Why on earth would one put in a V-8 toyota motor? Also wheelbase doesn't matter. Driveshafts are super easy to cut, and you'd need a new differential anyway.

Back in the 1970s it was real popular to put a V8 into a Chevy Vega. The Vega was similar in size to the Vibe. Some dealers even sold new Vegas that had already been retrofitted with a V8.You could also buy a Chevy Monza with a factory installed V8. Another car similar in size to the Vibe.

There is also a conversion kit to put a BB Chevy LS7 in the Solstice. My local speed shop did the install for a customer...it was SICK!!! I have been a "sleeper" fan forever!
