mounting subs

Post by pyro »

im going to be purchasing an 03 vibe in the next few days and ive got 2 sub tubes with 12s in them. theyre pretty big... probly 16" diameter and about 1.5' long. any ideas on how to mount these things? id rather not screw stuff into plastic or do any irreversible mods but i dont want these things just rolling around back there. let me know what you think i can post pics or give exact measurements if needed

Only thing I can think of is using the factory d-rings and using some kind of a strap eg. small ratchet strap

You have the 4 d-rings, or the mounting things on the back of the rear seats. They have little things that screw into them and provide great mounting points

I would drill 2 holes in each enclosure. Then I would get some bolts that are the same thread pitch as the factory anchors. Then I would screw the enclosures to the factory anchor lugs.
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

Now that is a more solid idea than mine.. Although straps would allow you easier access to the spare.

That's the biggest capacitor I've ever seen in my life. May I make a suggestion as to putting it in one of the side cubby's, cutting a piece of plexiglass to fit instead of the door, then tinting the glass with VHT nightshades, and putting an LED inside to light it when the remote switch is on for the amps. Hidden when off.

Don't bother with the cap and call it good.. They are basically worthless these days, I'll explain why if need be... Not dissin anything, I used to run caps, till I learned better.. jus sayin..

OOPS, I didn't comprehend the enclosures are round the first read. They would have a tendency to want to roll when the car turned. Thanks for catching that Aaron!
