New owner of a 2010 Vibe Base 1.8L

Post by mf3rr0 »

Hello GenVibe!Just coming to introduce myself. I'm Marc, a 20 year old Male and a member of the United States Marine Corps. Infantry...Before purchasing my Vibe I drove a 99 Pontiac Montana that I had since Junior year of HS, that is until it overheated on me and began causing a lot of problems... That leads me to this past weekend!I had test drove a lot of nice cars(06 G6, 09 Civic, 04 Passat) but none of stood out like the 2010 Vibe I drove and I picked it up! Its a silver color (anyone know the factory name?) with black, almost carbon-fiber like interior. I absolutely love it!I plan on doing a DIY cargo mat sometime this coming week and removing all badges but the Pontiac Star. Can't wait to get into some more serious mods as well!I'm extremely happy with my Vibe and so glad it was my first car purchase, looking forward to being an active member here!Cheers!

Could have sworn I attached a file of a picture, I'm posting from my phone (HD crashed on deployment, just ordered a new solid state drive to install...) so that may have something to do with it...

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome... I can't believe how much I love driving this thing... When my roommates need to get something from the store I always offer my helping hand as an excuse to drive! ;-)Still working up my nerves on debadging all the badges except the red Pontiac stars... Also, a quick question: what is the easiest way to remove a vinyl-like sticker that my sneaky dealer through on it?

Welcome to Gen Vibe! Couldn't agree more with you about the car. I've debadged mine (so simple using dental floss, patience and a little Goo Gone.I'd think if you can gently use your finger nail on the corner of the dealer decal, you should be able to get it off - once you can start it it should peel right off. Any residue would also come off with a little Goo Gone or similar stuff. Just be gentle w/the fingernail and it should not scratch the paint (wash the area first so you don't have any grit that you're rubbing around).

I had to remove a dealer sticker on mine, I used my long girly fingernails and some goo-gone, but I had mild scratching from where I tried to use an alternate method of removing the sticker (I think a blade of some kind). The long girly fingernail method was better, though I did also heat it up with a fancy girly hairdryer first as well to loosen it.

Welcome to the party! lol.once youre ready for the serious mods, if you cant find anything for the vibe you can also look towards the 09-10/11 matrix or Corolla for suspension and engine parts.

Well after a long delay, here are the photos from the first hour of having the new Vibe! I will be removing the badges tomorrow, so I'll be sure to snap photos of the hatch when that is done! Can view my photobucket acct. Dedicated to the car at HTTP://s1113.photobucket.com/home/mf3rr0 (there are a few more pics on there now and will be uploading more as time goes on)I plan on installing a CAI in the near future, as well as crafting my own cargo mat in the near future! Also looking to pick up some Lloyd floor mats.Any comments/suggestions are appreciated!

i feel like it should be standard procedure that everyone's first performance improving mod should be to replace the donuts of death with real tires. if i had the cash in my pocket, it would be the first thing i would no, without hesitation. i would love to know how this car feels on quality rubber.btw-the stock wheel covers look surprisingly nice with the silver color.

Welcome to GenVibe Marc! As others have already said, de-badging the hatch is easy. I used fishing line to carefully "saw" back and forth behind each letter until they came off. Then I used WD40 to remove the leftover residue. A blow dryer will help out a lot by softening up the adhesive making it much easier to remove. Also, as someone already said, the dealer sticker should be really simple to remove. Carefully pull a corner of it up and you should be able to pull the rest right off. Be sure to wash and wax the hatch after removing the adhesive. Thanks for serving our country !

Hey Welcome to Genvibe! The silver vibe looks great.as far as performance mods I'm a fan of the TRD suspension parts for the 09 matrix. I've pretty much installed everything they have for that year. They're not too pricey if you only buy one part here and there, also helps if your a DIY'er!

Welcome to this great Forum Marc As someone old enough to be your father, I am proud of you choosing to serve our country I salute you & your fellow comrades You've made a VERY wise choice in purchasing this 3rd generation Vibe. You'll see on MANY posts here, that there are numerous ways & methods to modifying your ride. Don't be afraid to ask any of us ... we're here to help each other out. When you're ready for some LED mods, maybe I'll be able to help you out I've got a "car shopping" question for you. What turned you away from getting the Pontiac G6? My son, who will be driving soon (currently 16-1/2 yr old) has his eyes on getting a G6 for his first car. I highly suggest him get a 3rd gen Vibe so that there would then be TWO of them in the family. We'll see come this summer. Again congrats & welcome

The G6 was a bit higher as far as price and mileage, also I tend to move my gear from place to place often, so extra space was a plus. Also, I knew my dog would appreciate the extra room when we take roadtrips together. Thanks for all the kind words!
