Good morning;I am the new owner of a 2009 Vibe GT, metallic red, 2.4L with the 5-speed shiftable automatic. Odometer read 17,966 when we picked it up Friday evening. It is in immaculate condition. Got a real good price on it, punched up the specs at Edmund's...looks like I paid almost $2000 under book. It has been in various dealer inventories a good, long while. Original owner bought it as a brand new model when it first hit the showroom floor. He had for only 11 months and put just under 12,000 miles on it.1st impressions:I like the seating height, a really nice compromise between a regular sedan and the 1999 S-10 this replaced (my little red pickup was T-boned just before Christmas).Acceleration is nice and peppy, will have to watch myself.Handling is more towards the S-10 than a regular sedan, but my wife likes it...compares favorably she said to the '83 Rabbit we had (similar comment about the seating).Visibility is not as bad a a "leading consumer magazine" stated, in my opinion.I think my wife and I did well. M'Lady has corrected me, the Rabbit was an '81 model. I should have remembered that, it was a college graduation present from her parents.Key is, remember her birthday and our anniversary.

Good buy, especially with such low miles on it. Great car that will last a long time, if you just do the required maintenance. Interesting that you compare ride performance "more towards the S-10"! Might want to check those tire pressures. Vibes ride pretty nicely... althogh the GT will be a little firmer and the tires will definitely have a lower profile... adding a little stiffness to the ride. Just don't get T-boned again. That would be bad. Welcome to the wacky world of Vibe forumdom. Enjoy the ride!

Awesome (OK, STOP drooling Michelle ) and from the Chicago area !!! Well "Midwest" to be more general You won't regret this purchase First thing you should do is get a set of winter tires so the 18's you have don't get destroyed from the winter driving here in the Midwest. Most of us 09-10 GT owners have already done this, You'll find an overwhelming support team here and too many suggestions for modifications to list. Again WELCOME and don't be a stranger
Welcome to GenVibe! It's great to see another '09 GT owner from Illinois! Be sure and watch the North Central Forum for a possible Chicagoland area meet in the spring. We always enjoy meeting new Vibe owners and their Vibes .

Not to jump on the obvious bandwagon here, but +1 for winter tires. Especially since it seems you got such a great deal on the car. A set of 18 (even 17)-inch steel rims and new snow shoes will set you back around $500-$600, but will last for years. Especially if you're patient for sub-45 degree days (I get so antsy in late November!). Another great benefit is your driving habits don't have to change THAT drastically. Ice is one thing, but snow becomes almost a non-issue with great snow tires. I enjoy non-directional Bridgestone Blizzaks, currently. And even if you only get a couple more "significant snowfall" uses out of them in the next couple months, you'll be thankful for them again, come this December. And the next December...Congrats, welcome, and I always love hearing about folks doing their research to snag a low, low mileage used Vibe. Best secret in automotive! OK, I am biased, but still. Your wallet will thank you while you own it. And when spring comes, do a search for any washing/waxing threads involving Whelan as a creator or commenter. You'll get amazing results with his guidance, and finally get to see your Vibe GT in all its glory! And another +1 for watching out for Michelle! What, with that paint color and 2 hour drive from her stomping grounds (you'll notice in threads that she loves, no craves, red on her Vibe and is also in Chicagoland).Have fun!
Welcome U-89! You got a great deal on a beautiful car.

Thank you all so very much!!!I'm kind of sentimental on GM vehicles, my great grandfather bought his 1st Oldsmobile before WW One (had the first privately owned car in Springfield, MA if family lore is correct). The Vibe is my 4th GM vehicle: 73 Nova (Canary Yellow - 2 years old when I got it), 85 S-10 4X4 (Desert Gold - factory fresh), 99 S-10 (Red - 2 years old when I got it) and now, the 09 Vibe GT (Metallic Red).My dad had a '56 Chevy Nomad when I was born in '57, before he went to the darkside and bought a Plymouth in '62. He returned to sanity when he bought a Monte Carlo in '72. My brother's 1st car was a '71 Blazer he got in '77; loved that beast...you could stand in the engine compartment to work on it.My wife's family are devoted GM customers; my mother in law drives an '09 GTO (in good weather) they have 2 S-10 Blazers and a regular S-10 (all 4x4) and a '69 Camero SS that my brother in law is restoring.Nuff fer now!Love the camaraderie and advice.
