apexcone/ diable DRL???

Post by poyota_apprentice »

I tried search and found mixed answers to what in my opinion should be a simple yes or no.... Im gonna order a set of Apexcone 35w HIDs for my 2004 vibe. Can someone tell me clearly yes or no. Do I have to disable my DRL's for these to work or not. Thank u all.

I was able to install my HID's without disabling the DRL as i enjoy the auto headlight feature. I used a relay with a delay on my install. Since the DRL's are really rapidly turning on and off the bulb its not long enough to fire the relay. I haven't had any problems with the install what so ever and when I do kick on those HID's (high beams in 09) they fire right up after a really quick delay.

Don't be shocked if you go to use your highbeams one night and they don't turn on.

I'm pretty sure the ballast are safe. I checked it with my DMM and a test light after install. After the relay there is no power until i actually turn on the high-beams. I think at the most it might eventually kill the relay but that's easily replaceable. But I'm not too worried about it if they do end up failing for whatever reason I'll just use the DDM lifetime warranty and then disable DRLs. I would however eventually like to do projectors but IMO the glare from the 09's is not that bad at all I've even had LEO's compliment me on how clean it looks.
