Now This is an Awesome HU

Post by epcIII »

New Parrot HU displayed at this year's CES. http://www.parrot.com/usa/prod...eroid It would be cool if it had HD Radio and changeable key colors. Probably will cost a lot.

Meh... There are a lot of reasons whyit's Android based, but it's not touch compatible at all... There is discussion about it but it's not so hot review.. If you want the ultimate HU, a Droid X with a GPS cradle/dock and a MiniDSP set-up... Or a CarPC and MiniDSP set-up...

I've never seen a single din touchscreen HU. I like how clean this one looks. But there really isn't a perfect HU out there I suppose.I'm going to have to look up what a DSP is-never heard of that before.

Thanks Sublimewood--that's very interesting. Do you have one of those set up in your car? Does it make a big difference, or at least noticeable difference?

I don't have them in my car no, just learning about them... BUT... sonically, they can do just about anything... Active 4way crossover with infinite slope, graphic/parameteric EQ, time alignmentBasically customizable in almost every conceivable way.. There are 2 different versions, so if you are using an iPod of HU you can run into them and turn almost ANY source into an incredibly complex DSP.. buy 2 for All tunable via laptop and mic...

Funny thing Sumlimewind, playing around with my radio today (I just bought a Kenwood KDC-X994)and I just noticed it has a DSP built in!From Crutchfield's desciption:Audio features:Sound Excellence DSP (5-band equalizer, iPod EQ, Highway Sound, time alignment, Digital E's crossover).I'm still learning about all the features that my radio has (I'm about ready to send it back though 'cause of the glare on the display). Like I mentioned above, the glare on my screen during the day is soooo bad that it makes me mad everyday I drive it.

I was just reading about it... pretty cool, if you can figure out how to use it all... Biggest problem i had with Kenwood.. so Difficult to figure out how to do ANYTHING.. The glare could be cut with some anti-glare film, I'm sure you could find that easy enough..

Sooo true. lolQuote, originally posted by Sublimewind »The glare could be cut with some anti-glare film, I'm sure you could find that easy enough.. I actually tried that-used an anti-glare film for my phone. Helped a little, but still so bad that I can't read the display during the daylight.
