How-to: Remove Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM)

Post by vibedrivermatt »

Hello, I've deleted this how-tol because I've decided its not really needed. If you wanna really turn off your onstar as sherry pointed out you can just pull a fuse to deactivate it. Theres also a few easier methods that star_deceiver shows than how I did it. Thankfully genvibe has the excellent delete feature on the edit tab that allows me to remove whatever flub ups I may have posted. guess I'll try to get a mod to delete this post. They are usually happy to do this when asked via pm.

Nice write up but you don't need to remove the seat to get it out: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=42786But that does make it easier to clean and vacuum..... (I'll get to it at some point). Be careful with seat removal step #4, the yellow connector is for the seat airbag!!!Quote, originally posted by vibedrivermatt »4.Remove the two electrical connectors that are attached to the drivers seat. I was able to undo these with some help from the flat head screwdriver. Use a razor blade to cut the tape which holds the wire to the plastic tab. As the days go by, watch the radio. Every so often for the first few weeks after I took mine out the radio wouldn't turn on when the vehicle was started. Fortuantly the problem has sorted itself out and hasn't happend since!
