OK, i'm sorry, but whoever said 125 was our top speed was wrong! i was on my way home tonight at 3:15am. no cars anywhere, i'm on the freeway so i got gutsy. dropped into 3rd and from there is history. By now i'm in 5th gear at about 7200rpm (still climbing tryin to grab that 8300 quickly) when i see a cop with his lights on, on the other side, obviously i break hard. So, at 7200 i was at 132mph and still climbing i'm gonna bet 140 can be accomplished. Jus my .02 Any other opinions?
Doesn't the owner's manual say the top speed is 140? I could have sworn it said that, or some internet review of the car said that. Either way, I bet you could've hit 140 if that cop wasn't there.

Jus my .02 Any other opinions? If there had been a deer on the highway, you would have been our first ex-member! I'm not opposed to speed... I've driven Germany's Autobahns (late for my flight at the airport, doing at least 140MPH in a rented Volvo wagon... what a rush...), but going that fast in the middle of the night is sort of asking for trouble, IMHO.

For the Millionth time .. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT ACCURATE AT THAT SPEED. I hope that people actually pay attention this time. If you want to guage your top speed correctly USE AN ALTERNATE DEVICE.
Our cars do not have enough power to compensate for all that wind drag resistance at that speed. accurate top speed is probaly around 125 and that is redline in 5th. 6th is useless you will loose speed in that gear.

thanks for the concern about the deer lol, but seriously where i was at, there were no woods, AT ALL. It was freeway going north to my left, freeway wall, the two lanes southbound, which i was in, freeway wall, 2 more southbound lanes. on either side of each freeway, was another freeway haha. i picked a pretty good spot. does that make sense? or should i try to explain better?
you better believe it lol! at that speed, what at 65mph was a tiny not even curve in the freeway, was like holy god thats a sharp turn hahaha! i was like can i get thru that this fast? but i did
Too bad for us that the cop didn't come after you, then we would have gotten an independent assessment of your speed. You, on the other hand, probably wouldn't still be driving if he caught you doing 60 over the speed limit, so you probably don't see this lost opportunity as a bad thing. Was that on I-70? I was out that way last week and there are some parts in Ohio, and especially east Indiana that would be a good road for opening it up, Not much else to do or look at.
Speedometer not accurate at those speeds?Would it accurate at 110? That's the fastest I've hit, was doing "testing" of my DIY intake. The car us über-smooth from 40mph all the way to 110, and faster to boot. Car shifted into 4th/Overdrive (automatic) just as hit got near 6300-6400rpm @ 110mph. I'm just curious, I thought our top speeds was 125 as well.
