So I called Crutchfield and this is what he actually said: "That hissing noise is normal." What!!!! I said if it was normal then why don't I have it with the factory radio. Uggh...

Ok, I'm done ranting. I found one of the Scosche SLC-4 at a nearby car-audio store, installed it, and still that blasted white noise when volume is down. It's really frustrating. The guys at the store said they would have a look at it for me tomorrow morning so that's the next step.

I made adjustments until the white noise was gone.

That's why I'm just stumped now. Maybe it's 'cause I just taped off the ground? But I think that's what others have done too without any problems. I'm taking my car to the audio place where I bought the SLC-4 and have them look at it real quick.

I have the ground taped off also. Huh, wierd. How is the head unit grounded?

When I did it I grounded the head unit and the scoche all together with the ground lead from the harness. I figured that would be the safest way to go. What HU do you have, by the way? Is it particularly powerful? I put in a 50 W/chan Pioneer premier and actually I didn't need to use the scoche much at all. I used it more to balance the speakers.

I bought a Kenwood Excelon X994-I'm not really sure how powerfull it is. It had everything I wanted though as far as bluetooth, ipod, etc... I was just hoping the scosche would help with the white noise I'm hearing @ low volume, but didn't seem to help. Maybe I should try hooking the grounds up like you did it.

Took it to the local car audio specialist and they ended up bypassing the amp 'cause they couldn't get the noise to go away either. Wasn't my first choice, but it does sound great now! Next up, sometime in the near future hopefully, will be some new speakers. I'm not sure what to think of the HD Radio yet. Doesn't seem like some of the regular channels come in as good now but the HD channels are nice. I hid the HD receiver behind the glove box: The auxiliary and Ipod lines run underneath the carpet to the center armrest and out the big storage bin: Sorry for the blur: BlueCrush--I apologize for hijacking your thread.

I noticed in your garage that you had a Kenwood HU. Did you replace that with the JVC? Also did you have the HD radio add on? Where did you put it? I'm not too sure if I'm getting the best signal with the current location. Actually it really shouldn't matter with the regular channels cause the antenna is still connected (just not to the radio directly but through the hd box). I couldn't really see another good spot to place it.

Just wedged in there. it is not secured at all but it ain't going anywhere either. We have really good HD radio signals here.

We about have the same radio Bluecrush. I'm about ready to send mine back though. I love all the features (bluetooth, hd radio, etc...) but the glare is beyond aweful. Does yours have bad glare? I can't even read the display during the daytime (I've adjusted all the display settings). I even tried put an anti-glare film from my phone on it.

I think it must have something to do with what Kenwood did when they made my model's screen multi-color. I found some other blogs with people with the same complaints. Oh well...The bluetooth audio streaming is awesome though!

HighMileVibe- I was interested in the outcome of your use of the RCA outputs with the attenuation circuit. My preamps are actually at 5V. Should I stay with the 6dB values or possibly go to 10dB.
