2003 Vibe Anti-Theft Won't Reset

Post by tbavibe »

Hi all.I disconnected my battery cable to clean it and the terminal. When I placed it back on the terminal the horn beeped a couple of times. No big deal. Now, I cannot get the antitheft to reset. Every time I open up a door it goes off. Here is what I have done so far (some of these I found on other sites on the web):1. used the fob to lock and unlock the doors2. used the key to lock and unlock both doors3. put key in ignition and turned to on without trying to start and let sit for 20 minutes, then started car, and then turned it off - got out and hurn started blaring.4. put key in ignition and turned to on without trying to start and then to off - repeated 3 times and didn't reset (got this one from a dealer).Any ideas? Is there a sensor that might be blown? The FOB and the key both lock and unlock the doors and the FOB still opens the hatch.Any help would be appreciated.

Try locking and unlocking all the doors including the hatch with the physical key.Back in the 90's that is the method Chrysler used, put key in trunk, turn, and alarm was off.Doubt it will work but worth a shot.Do you have an owners manual?
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

OEM or aftermarket? If it were OEM, unlocking the driver's door with the key should have fixed it.

its OEM. I tried the doors with the key including the hatch with no luck. It locked and unlocked the doors but didn't turn off the alarm.

disconnect the battery, put the key in the ign, turn it to assessory(position just before start) reconnect the battery. I do doubt that this is OEM... IMO
