How often do you clean your filter on CAIshort ram

Post by robdog »

I have the AEM short ram and my filter looks pretty dirty. The K&N site says every 50,000 miles. They said the dirtier it gets the better it filters. But is my air being resticted because of this. Any thoughts???

I have heard it depends on how dusty it is where you drive. Although I don't know how you could measure something like that. Personally, I am going to clean mine every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or yearly. I think it is a good interval. I'm sure I could wait longer, but I want to keep mine clean. It sounds a little odd that the dirtier it gets, the better it filters. But that may be the case, I'm not sure. I would be interested to find out though.

50,000 is way too long for a cone on a CAI, Down in the fenderwell filters get a lot dirtier that if they were sitting in an aibox in the engine compartment. I tend to clean mine probably around every 6k or so but 10k should be fine.
