'03 Vibe 2.0 .... it lives AGAIN!!!!

Post by atro2020 »

so back in January i had a friend help me with a simple oil change. and then a few months later, in April, to make the story short..... i leaked oil and blew my engine. (fyi..... no longer friends with the guy..... good thing too) so my vibe's been sitting in my driveway until i could settle some financial disputes so i could get enough money for another engine. i could have gone the route and just gotten a replacement engine from a junked vibe..... but from that... there's no guarantee as to how long that engine would last me. and with a used engine costing 1000, i decided to go a different route, and get a rebuilt engine from ROCKAUTO [who in turn gets the engine from Marshall, the only and main company that rebuilds our engines] for 2000. i'm lucky enough to have a brother-in-law who is able to help me replace my engine. So finally with the engine delivered and a few days off... I've finally been able to replace it.... with only a few things left to do.... i'll be running around in my Vibe again by the 1st of December.so below are pics of me finally getting the last few pieces moving for my return of the prodigal vibe!!!

Nicely done working through that situation. It must have been pretty stressful.

it was so very stressful.... but i am glad that its just back again.... im up and running around in it today my accelerator is sticking a bit.... but then again its been sitting for about 8mo. so i know i need to break it in... same with the brakes.... and maintain a speed lower than 55mph for the average..... just breaking the engine in, and then my oil change at 500. and as for taking advantage of the situation.... of putting mods on it finally..... this engine was an unexpected expense... as much as i would like to. im not going to modify this vibe.... not for performance anyways. i'll get another vibe, AWD, and then i'lll drop in the 2ZZ-GE engine in there (VVTL-i) and then drop in a turbo AND a supercharger. i need the awd and the better engine.... im gunning for more HP than the GT-R and the AUTOCROSS concept... i need to be in runnings with the EVO X's and the WRX STI'sive got got big plans for my project 'Pulse'. it'll be the sweetest vibe out there.and i'll update this with my corny pics with my green Xmas lights on my roofrack.

I am glad I do not do my own oil changes. I am capable of adding air to my tires, change wiper blades and air filters though .

Thinking you are going to twin charge an economy car with a frail AWD drive line for racing and/or autocross. The amount of things wrong with that idea are staggering. Don't punish yourself and your wallet by trying to make a Vibe into something it is not. start with a proper platform with goals like that if you plan to take the performance that far. The comment of "more HP than the GT-R" made me cringe.

The comment of "more HP than the GT-R" made me cringe.well yes... i do get that it would be too elaborate to do something like that. that definitely is asking too much out of the vibe. but it does have some (maybe just a little) potential to be a semi decent rally car. it was just a dream though. i'll be going to school for mechanical engineering and graphic design (conceptual design for an automaker) so i just like to imagine the things that some of there current cars could do. it provides great inspiration for when im designing my cars. and while i could get a WRX STI or an EVO X instead to reach my goals, its takes the fun out. and who here wouldn't want a sleeper vibe..... these are family minivan alternatives.... the CUV..... but they do have some hidden attributes.... but i'll think of those later. and on a bit of sad news..... after 75mi into the new engine..... something is making some god awful rattling noise... my father thinks its something in the torque converter.... im thinking its something within my belt assembly.... but hopefully that will be fixed soon.....and i'll be posting some vibe love pics....... i saw waaay too damn many vibes yesterday while driving. was only able to snag a few pics before people starting chasing me.(and i'll post my xmas light pics too... i know.... im a loser)sorry for the book......i have a lot of opinions.... it happens.and as for the SX-4 and the 280Z.... no those aren't mine... just dreams waiting to be filfilled. and also on that point the sx-4 was smaller than the vibe.... with at least a V6 and real 4WD, so why cant the vibe be balls to the wall?

Best of lucknot very surprising to me. honestly, if you have a wrench, pan, and means to jack up the car a bit, you can do an oil change. may be more effort, but its also slightly cheaper in the end and you get peace of mind knowing its been done and done right. $19 for a jug of oil$5 or so for a filter from toyota, even cheaper if you find deals online
