09-10 Tail light mods?

Post by vit »

Has anybody done any modifications to 09-10 tail lights? The huge clear plastic lenses are starting to get to me... Some tint maybe?

Notchy's are tinted:When I first saw an '09 Vibe at the local GM dealer, I thought the taillights were extremely huge and ugly, but they've since grown on me. I actually think they're pretty nice looking with the black, silver and chrome accents.

I love the taillights very much... the only mod I'd like to see are some LEDs (I'm looking at you, tpollouf...)

I did not see one available as kit on their site, they do offer custom cut tint kits. They do list a 2009 head light kit http://www.rvinyl.com/headligh...9.htmNot sure if I want the tails smoked in any permanent fashion.

Found this, but 70 bucks sounds kind of steep for what it is. http://www.lamin-x.com/Pontiac...8.htm

I won't let any of you members down. Even you Michelle My first thought when the 09/10 Vibes came out was this: Front end/appearence = totally awesome & definite improvement over earlier gens, BUT rear end = a real disappointment . The rear hatch glass was too short and the tail lights too big and not enough color in them to blend in with the body. In sticking with this thread I do plan on a future mod on the lenses BUT it is going to be one of the last on my list, at least for now. LED mods are tentatively in this order: Make a batch of 3rd high mount brake lights, Additional front running lights for the 09/10 GT bumper only. Those black plastic inserts will be replaced with bright white LED lights/lenses. Next .... Mirror LED mods to include front amber running lights/turn indicator, rear red running lights/turn/brake indicator, white LED puddle lamps to illuminate the ground when the door is opened (my 98 Ford Explorer had this feature), then since the door panels will be removed I'll work on interior LED mods for better night viewing of door switches, pockets, etc. Then there's the new center console I'd like to design & build. Also the overhead center console needs completely redone to where you can FIND the buttons in the dark, store a NORMAL pair of sunglasses, and incorporate my Scangauge II into it. Possibly more LED lighting at various spots in the interior ................................. THEN we may get to the taillights The brain/imagination is working harder than what the body can keep up with Oh well, everything MUST start with an idea and then we go from there

I like mine just the way they came. It's kind of funny, a few years ago people were paying big bucks to replace factory lights with the Euro style lights. The factory switches to Euro style and now some don't like that look. That's okay, we're all different and have our own preferences. However I don't think it is smart to tint lights and obscure their function. I doubt it would happen but some day someone just may have to explain to an insurance company why their claim shouldn't be denied due to non-functioning (tinted/obscured) brake lights.

I envy the Scions here.I was thinking of cutting up the present/limited use hole above the shifter to fit a Scangauge II as well. As far as the tail lights go, they have grown on me as well. I wasn't too much of a fan at first. I would be interested to see some mods though...one idea may sprout another.Quote, originally posted by vit »There is nothing "Euro" about that style of tail light. What isn't Euro about the style?
