Carpet soaking wet on passenger side

Post by canadianguy_001 »

hey guys...2004 vibe here...I have already seen this thread and have checked the HVAC Drain tube...http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=17756But my drain tube looks fine, its connected and doesnt appear to be mucked up.The carpet is soaking with water from the front passenger side to the back passenger side... no smell - just pure water. Passenger side onlyI have pulled up to carpet and had a really good look and I still cant find anything that looks suspect...All seals look fine so I dont think its the doors, also, no sunroof.I'm kind of at a loss here, could anyone point me in the right direction here?

Hmm.... you haven't happened to replace your windshield recently? When I first bought my car they recently replaced the windshield and someone must of slammed a door before the glue cured and caused the windshield to move ever so slightly, but enough to cause leaks. Long shot, but just throwing out some ideas. Good luck!

I had the same EXACT problem a couple of months ago. It turned out to be the Moonroof drain. There was a glob of dirt blocking the drain hole.

Tell us more, when does it happen? After a long drive with the AC on?After washing the car? After a drive in a driving rain stormAfter driving through a puddle?IF you are sure the ac drain is open and clear (I'd pull it off and make sure) I'd suspect your HVAC air intake area for you haven't a sunroof.Get a hose and get a helper. YOU get in the car and your helper will start with flooding the air intake grill by the wipers just in front of the glass. I suspect you'll have water pouring out of the AC blower behind the glove box. The little drains that drain that area of rain water can get plugged up. They are on the firewall behind the engine. If that produces no leaks, have you helper go to the top of the windshield and flood that area with water, as mentioned you may have a bad windshield seal.If that doesn't produce a leak, roll your windows up when it rains!! Thanks for all the replies guys...Ill have to try pouring water through the hvac tube...I haven't had the A/C on in a couple months (im in Canada). I run the heater daily, but don't really notice the water come out then. The windshield is not new, and is in normal shape... Nothing I can think of that would have prompted this.I'm not even sure WHEN the water is getting there... I soaked all the water up last night. It didn't rain, but there was a puddle again in the morning. I think its still coming out of the rug- it was pretty soaked.I will maybe get my GF to hose down the car while i sit inside and look for water as djkeev suggested.Does anyone know where I might find pics of the HVAC air intake area? Not sure where to find that since I don't have a manual yet...

OK so yeserday evening I tried the HVAC tube... poured a whole glass of water through it no problems, and could see it pouring out below the car.It rained very hard last night though, and sure enough, I came out this morning to a puddle of water on the floor.@djkeev, I'll be checking those hvac drain tubes tonight... It's extra tough because it's dark like night out when I get off work now.
