Spark plug problems

I tried to replace my spark plugs today with some new Bosch ones, and I successfully replaced 2, but had troubles taking out the last two.I was able to detach the wires and unbolt the black piece that covers the actual spark plug, but I couldn't remove that long black cylindrical piece. ( I have no idea what that piece is called). Anyways, can someone tell me how to take them out properly, or an ideas/tips on how I can get 'em out?

best way to do it is to remove all 4 coil packs and unbolt the harness directly behind them to give yourself more room. thatswhat i had to do to put in the bosch platinum+4's

Sounds like the boots are baked on... Don't forget to add some Dielectric grease when you do put everything back together... Not only does it help make a better connection, it seals the boot better and allows for easier removial later.. BTW, a mechanic friend of mine has told me in the past he wouldn't put "Botch" plugs in an x-wife/GF's car... lol

Alright, so if the boots are baked on, is there any way of me getting them out? Or is this something I'm going to have to take to the dealer or mechanic?

My guess is that you'll have to apply excessive force to remove them. The dealer or garage will do the same thing, and if they break 'em you'll have to pay their labor plus the cost of the part - so you may as well try it yourself and save the labot cost. i don't thing there is any magic involved.

You need to loosen the wire rail which blocks the boot/coil. If you don't loosen the rail, you will crack your book (lose part of the cover) when you use a lot of force to pull it. But, the nuts that fasten the rail are hard to reach. So, it's very easy to overlook them at the beginning.I speak of my own pity experience. I cracked 2 boots before I realized the blocking issue. After I loosened the rail, the other 2 boots are pulled out without a lot of force.Fortunately, the loss of part of the hard cover is not too bad. The soft cover is still in pretty good shape and it covers the hole alright. So, I didn't replace them. At AutoZone, they are listed as $89 each. If I were to replace both, I would have to spend $180+ I thought Toyota should have done a better job in the design of the rail. It shouldn't be made to block the boots.
